This soundtrack is not good. All it has is background music. Is that what people want? NO. They want music with words. There were songs with words in the movie and they are not in the soundtrack. This is not a good soundtrack to get at all.

The movie is great and the soundtrack is good, well, not all the movies have songs with lyrics, u know... Ah, and Seann William Scott... it's beautiful!!! :-)

A brilliant score. The heroic theme mixed with the intensity of the atmosphere is awesome. A must have. John Powell is a brilliant composer. As for the moron who gave this SCORE as a low rating.... IT'S A SCORE!!!! Appreciate the good sounds of REAL music for a change. =P

This is a great movie, but the soundtrack doesn't live up to the film. As said before, no one wants the background music. WHERE'S "PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC WHITE GUY"? Admit it, that's what we all wanted on this CD.

This soundtrack is INCREDIBLE!! Sure, Powell is basically a Hans Zimmer spin off, but the more of those we have, the better in my opinion. As for the "reviewers" who have given low ratings because "nobody wants the background music" - speak for yourselves!! Lots of us would far rather have the score than songs that try to pass as music.

I have to agree with someone else here!! The soundtrack is completly awful!!! And YES we do only want it for the "PLAY THAT FUNKY MUSIC WHITE BOY" song!!!!

People need to get their facts together. This is not a soundtrack, it's a score. A score is an album that only contains non-lyrical music that was used to make the film. And as for this score, it is truely awesome. One of Powell's best.

This score is incredible. I'm sure it took a lot more effort to compose an entire movie score than it did the song "Play that Funky Music White Boy." So don't give this a bad rating because it's not a soundtrack, because it's not. Powell did an amazing job on this one.

Great CD! Yeah, I was hoping that there would be a song soundtrack, but unfortunately, there isn't. But this is a good CD, especially if you love the movie! The movie is awesome! Yes, I was hoping that they would have made a CD with "Play that Funky Music." But hey, Powell made a great background CD! You have to give him credit for it...and you even if it's not your favorite, how can you not like it? It's cool, Powell, thanks for making it and putting so much work into it! Look into making a song soundtrack will ya? Thanks!

I don't even want to listen to this soundtrack/score. It seems good, as many says, BUT IT IS NOT what I remember from the movie, IT IS NOT what I was expecting and IT IS NOT what I'm searching for. I am totally disappointed. It is a huge marketing mistake to me.

Overall, A Good Soundtrack. This whole site is geared to the orchestrationally minded -- if you don't like our s*** -- get lost!

Score vs Soundtrack, Score vs. Soundtrack. . . . hmmmm . . . . Well, the cover says "Soundtrack," and it doesn't say "Score," and the score is a subpart of any soundtrack. The verdict: album SHOULD have included singles that were played (and credited, by the way) including "Play that Funky Music." Doesn't mean the album is bad, just misleading.

This is a soundtrack to a film, of course it is just background music you knob jockey. The film Evolution will be a timeless retro classic, just like Ghostbusters. As for the soundtrack, it has been scored by some of Hollywood's busiest musicians, and is faultless within the genre to which the film applies.

I find it entertaining people have labelled Evolution as a bad soundtrack for not containing "Play That Funky Music," seeing as how you could easily could have spent your $15.95 on a Time Life "Hits of the 70s" CD with all your hilarious favorites on it. Instead, you chose to run right out to the store the moment the Evolution soundtrack arrived and purchase it without even looking at the back to see if your favorite song was on it. Brilliant.

Evolution is a brilliant score. I had never heard of John Powell before, but he really made the soundtrack his own. One of my absolute favorites, especially among new composers.

Alright, this is really beginning to irritate me (to put it kindly). I am sick of people calling this kind of music crap and reading comments like those here. There is a whole lot more effort put into film scoring than pop music, that's for sure. I'm not even going to say that pop music is crap. We all have different opinions. Oh yeah, and this soundtrack is highly listenable and surprisingly rich in orchestra rather than songs. Get it, if you are an orchestral score enthusiast.

This CD is very poor. This is a tribute to Powell but not the movie. The songs are missing.

To the person who decided that his or her opinion was true for everyone... some people actually like background music... especially when today's music scene has the musical and lyrical depth of a tater tot... thanks for sharing. I happen to LOVE the soundtrack for this movie, so piss of eh! :-)

Well, one thing to all the peeps saying this one sucks because there are no top 40 style commercial sh***y songs on it: for the 30,000 time, IT'S A SCORE and a score is music without lyrics just the "background" music from the movie. Although I can't really say the score was "background" music as it is presented in the movie very big and loud... And I love it! The melodies are so great. If you feel down, listen to this music and you will jump up from your chair and think YEAH! The score reminds me of Chicken Run composed by Harry Gregson Williams and John Powell. This music makes you happy!

Excellent soundtrack, especially the "Mall Chase/Our Heroes" track - my favorite action music from the movie. Contrary to what a lot of people seem to think about this soundtrack, there ARE people who actively hunt for the background music from our favorite movies, and I'm one of 'em. :)

For those who buy the CD expecting songs, try reading the track listing on the back - it's usually very informative. And yes, many of us much prefer the score to the "songs." This is one of John Powell's best scores in my opinion. Strong themes and exciting, adrenaline-pumping action music. Powell is one of this generation's most gifted and varied composers. He has come out from the Media Ventures shadow and established his own voice. Can't wait to hear his score for X3.

Why would you buy this CD purely for one song? It even says on the back cover that it doesn't have the song!! And to the people saying score vs soundtrack, it doesn't stop being a soundtrack if it isn't pop music! You idiots!

I actually like it! This score has some really impressive action music and very interesting thematic material. John Powell is definitely becoming one of my favorite composers.

Rip Off!!! Where are all the song from this movie? No one will like this, the way it has left out the cool stuff played in the movie. The people want the songs, not the transition music.

Although I've posted a review above already, I had to answer to this. A lot of us out here much prefer the "transition" music; actually a very important part to nearly any movie. So glad that CD space wasn't wasted on the songs here. This is a fantastic score.

This is an awesome soundtrack. It's a shame more people don't appreciate REAL music like this instead of 2 minute pop song crap like the above poster likes. The best and greatest music needs no words. Music is a language in itself.

The soundtrack was one of the reasons I loved this movie. Its quirky style and sweeping melodies truly set Evolution apart from other movies. Definitely NOT to be overlooked.

Well thought-out and intelligent music. The orchestration is fine enough but what really sells this is the development of the material from one track to the next.
