of this soundtrack CD:
by filmscorematt on 7/14/2009 favorite track: 26 Harry Potter has not only entranced readers to a fantastic level, but also has sent listeners to Harry's Wonderous World!! There has been three different composers for the Harry Potter franchise, the first being the great John WIlliams. The music for The Order of the Phoenix and The Half Blood Prince was written by a newcomer named Nicholas Hooper. Hooper does an outstanding job of capturing our attention with his work on fifth Potter installment. His music for the sixth has surpassed even that!! The cue entitled "In Noctem" is a very emotional piece that is in the style of a sacred mass. It paints the picture of the story of Dumbledore and his trials and troubles in this installment. The orchestration skills of this new composer are of high standards. Hooper's knowledge of form and analysis and counterpoint are evident in cues such as "Ron's Victory," "Dumbledore's Farewell," and "Harry and Hermione." This book was probably the most emotional and Hooper's music amplifies that. This is probably right up there with Williams' score for the first Potter film.
