This is a beautiful, haunting soundtrack which aptly captures both the vivacious spirit and the mysterious and dark undertones of J.M. Barrie's original novel. Although some of the tracks appear to have been subject to 'cutting' (in most cases leaving tracks to be only 1 or 2 minutes in length) and some of the music edited out due to what seems to be lack of space, the all-around feel for James Newton Howard's score is a truimphant, masterful medley of sound. As I have already mentioned there is far more focus on the dark and sinister elements of Barrie's story - and indeed the 2003 film - not least on the malignant Captain James Hook (splendidly potrayed in the film by the wickedly captivating Jason Isaacs) whose ominous themes alone are well worth the listening to. There are also the lighter themes that belong to the Lost Boys and of course Peter and Wendy - though not as especially riveting as those of Hook, they do possess a certain charm all of their own. Overall, completely and utterly bewitching...

Notable tracks in my opinion are: "Intro" (1), "Flying" (2), "Tinkerbell" (4), "Is That A Kiss?" (5), "Peter's Shadow" (6), "Mermaids" (11), "Fairy Dance" (12), "Set Them Free" (13), "I Do Believe in Fairies" (14) and "Please Don't Die" (16). {NB: Tracks on the soundtrack are not in the same order as they appear in the film}

I was seized by a kind of skeptical excitement upon first hearing that Universal was making a live action version of J.M. Barries beloved novel. Mainly because I am so fond of the work, having read the book, watched the "Mary Martin version" since I was a kid, and having acted in the play myself (I played John). Two things sucessfully put my mind to rest: knowing that P.J. Hogan was involved, and hearing that James Newton Howard was scoring the film, being quite fond of his work on both Dinosaur and Treasure Planet.

The score is amazingly well constructed and features brilliant bombastic themes as well as subtle touching ones. So why the 1/2 rating? The score is beautiful in and of itself, and what has been offered on the CD is quite phenomenal, however there was definitely some creative cutting going on, and alot of the action music never made it to the CD.

What we are presented with is enchanting though, and the risks James Newton Howard takes are gutsy and well recieved. The main reason I think the score (and the film for that matter) works is because Both Howard and Hogan are able to be serious with it from time to time. It does not need to jump directly from one adventure to another, and yet it is not afraid to be serious (ala Disney's version). Both the film and the score understand the underlying sadness to a boy realizing there are some things he'll never have because he refuses to grow up (e.g. Wendy and family). The film and score emanate this theme perfectly and take time to pause, breath and reflect on what's happening to the characters. Neither the score nor the film feel they have to jump serial style from one adventure to another, and that's just fine. It adds a depth to the characters, the film, and the score. In fact, after watching and listening you might wish... it'd never end.

This movie is fantastic. It relates very well to J.M. Barrie's story of Peter Pan. The characters were well-portrayed by the actresses and actors. Jeremy Sumpter is the best Peter Pan yet. I've seen the movie two times now, and notice the music more and more. I like every moment of the music and the movie - 10 stars for both!

This Peter Pan soundtrack is just brilliant. When I saw the movie, I heard the soundtrack and completely loved it - it sounded so magnificent that I want to go and see it again. Peter Pan is my favourite movie and soundtrack now! From Jasmin.

When I heard that J. Newton Howard was writing this score, I knew it would be good. His previous animated scores (Treasure Planet, Atlantis, Dinosaur) are excellent scores and Peter Pan continues that tradition. It is turns magical, heroic, romantic, etc. The orchestration brilliantly captures the magic of Neverland, fairies, and flying. This kind of music is why I continue to look forward to James Newton Howard scores.

I love the soundtrack! I believe it goes very well with this movie. The music is not so hard edged like most action movies (probably because this was movie was aimed toward much younger people).

I just saw the movie for the second time, and because of the track "Flying," I feel like I'm seeing it for the first time. This is a brilliant sonudtrack that really captivates all that I feel it should. Might I add that the casting was perfect.

The best track of this CD is #12 because this is the one that makes you feel like you really are in this scene when Peter and Wendy are dancing in the blue sky.

I cry tears when I hear track 18. Howard Shore may get the Oscar for The Lord of the Rings, but I think this soundtrack is the very very very best of all. Thank you James. I love it.

This album captures the true magic that Peter Pan really is. The transition from script to film is just incredible and to create a soundtrack filled with such emotion is an astonishing achievement. "Peter Returns" is my favourite track. James Newton Howard deserves to be largely congratulated on creating a score with the same amount of power, emotion and magic as the film itself.

This soundtrack is a pleasure to own. I believe Howard captured the imaginative life of the J.M. Barrie Novel and composed a score that directly reflects the story. Though this score does not have the "Swash Swash Buckle Buckle" epic tracks as in Hook, this score is a masterpiece in its own way. A definite must-own.

This soundtrack is so beautiful it is nearly mystical. After either hearing the sountrack or seeing the movie, you will think about it for days, wishing you were one of the characters of the movie: Peter or Wendy for some, Captain Hook for others. All the tracks keep the wonder of the original novel while inspiring their own magic, enough to keep you listening over and over again. This movie and soundtrack are unlike any of Peter Pan before: this soundtrack of dreamlike music will go on for ages and forever.

I found the track titled "Flying" to be my favorite. Just the beat to it and the scene it goes with it makes you feel like you are there in the movie and flying with them. The music makes you wanna jump up and dance to it!!

I am a soundtrack fanatic, and the tracks I have listened to are fantastic. I especially like "Flying" and "Intro," but all of the music really captured the essence of the childlike, serious, and sometimes sad movie. I can't wait to see the movie again, even though I hate that Wendy and Peter can't be together (call me hopeless).

This soundtrack is absolutely genius. It captivates the heart and soul and truly allows for both the mystery and enchantment to be revealed in all different sorts of ways. Whether a track is uplifting, sorrowful, or sets the stage for a creepy surprise, each song is well arranged and beautifully composed! Well done!

This is an excellent soundtrack! I have never really liked this kind of music, but hearing it in the movie Peter Pan, it gave me a whole different thought about it. When I listen to the CD, I actually know what scene it's from, like it's playing the movie in my mind. I love "Flying" because when I listen to it, it's like I am flying and that's a good feeling. "Fairy Dance" is another favorite of mine because it's a perfect song for the scene in the movie, and it's like I'm dancing with Peter and Wendy, too. This soundtrack is worth all the stars in the galaxy! =)

This score captures the feelings of the characters through music. The feeling in the notes is just so great. You just can't put it into words. The score captures even the resentment between Hook and Peter in the sword fights. I could go on forever, but I can't. Just remember, "all childrem grow up... except one."

The songs are so magical. The music makes you feel like you're actually living the movie all over again. I personally like all the songs, but "Flying Jolly Roger" is the best. It's like a bittersweet goodbye, but it has a happy feeling. After you see the movie, you actually want to go to Neverland... it's awesome.

Along with one of my favorite stories, this soundtrack is also one on my list. I love the "Flying" track and the "Fairy Dance." One thing that is cool to do is to play the tracks in order with the movie. Mr. Howard has done a great job on this one, if i do say so myself.

My favorite song is "The Fairy Dance" - it goes along with the part so well, such a sweet scene. :) But I also love "Flying," "I Do Believe in Fairies" and all of the other songs. This is a great movie - my favorite. Everyone should watch it and listen to the soundtrack.
