I was a little disappointed with this soundtrack because it lacked many of the songs in the movie that I liked, such as the song playing during Tom Cruise's funeral, and when he jumps from the building. Other than that, it is pretty good. However, is there ever going to be a release of the movie songs that weren't on this soundtrack possibly on an additional Vanilla Sky soundtrack?

I was just disappointed that some songs were not on the soundtrack. For instance, the song heard when it shows Tom Cruise's character's memory, funeral thing, and the song heard when he jumps from the building. By the way, I would like to know what songs those are.

Same here. ALL the songs I liked from the movie are not on this album... like the ones mentioned above and the one where he runs down the empty street near the beginning. The songs on the CD suck!!! What a rip!!

Yeah, I agree with everyone. I really wish more songs from the movie were on the CD. A lot of the songs I like were real short songs, like when he was in the nightclub and we saw the shot of the mask on his head, and the elevator song, which is cut off in the movie. I liked the end of the song, which isn't on the CD. I really hope they come out with an original score CD soon!!

I looked at the soundtrack and some of the songs I've heard of. However, when I saw the commercial I swore I heard "Cowgirl" by Underworld, and I'm vastly disappointed that it is not on the soundtrack.

I also agree. A LOT of good songs in the movie, but not many on the CD. If anyone knows the name of the song played while Tom Cruise is in the nightclub, PLEASE post!

I was stoked when I heard many of the songs in the movie, but was disappointed when I saw the track list on the soundtrack. Although it is still a good sound track, it could have been better.

The song in the night club is in this soundtrack! It's by Leftfield/Afrika Bambaataa and it's called "Afrika Shox."

The songs in the film that are missing from the soundtrack are by the group Sigur Ros. They are an Icelandic band and have one song on the soundtrack. Their album's name is "Agaetis byrjun." Enjoy!

I've been searching for a damn long time for the song where Tom Cruise jumps off the building, and the song as he's falling. The soundtrack bites, why wouldn't they put it on? Anyways, for those who want it, the song is from Sigur Ros called "The Nothing Song."

One of the songs in the nightclub that no one noted here yet was Chemical Brothers' "Loops of Fury." I know cause I bought the single a long time ago. Thanks for the Sigur Ros info. I love that song. PEACE

Although the movie was different, I loved it! And the director made excellent use of music in the film to create an ambivalent setting. The songs in the soundtrack are very good, but the overall use of all the music in the movie are outstanding! Well done.

Overall, the soundtrack was very good. However, I can understand why so many are disappointed. There were many good songs that were not on the soundtrack (i.e. when Cruise jumps off the building). The soundtrack could have had two CDs to it.

Great soundtrack. I am, however, at my wits end as to why these music people did not include the dreamy, inspirational song played right at the end of the film when they are on the roof. Love that damn song....... why oh ..... why is it not on the soundtrack.

The song played during the funeral montage is #40: Spiritualized's "Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space." As you might imagine, very hard to find. There should have been two soundtracks!!

I bought this CD and was a mildly disappointed the track by Sigur Ros heard when David jumped off the building wasn't included. Hopefully a second CD will be released with the missing tracks from the original.

My favorite song on this soundtrack is Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel, "...my heart going boom, boom, boom!" The song stirs my emotions and memories from when David and Sofia spend that first evening together, drawing each other's portrait and watching TV, falling in love - that is my favorite part of the movie, what a perfect scene!

Overall, this is an excellent soundtrack packed with great music from the movie and a good variety of musicians. However, I will have to agree with many others here, that some of the best music tracks from the movie were not included. The Vanilla Sky soundtrack easily could have been a two CD set.

My absolute favorite music from the movie is not included on the soundtrack, Untitled #4 (a.k.a. Njosnavelin or The Nothing Song) by Sigur Ros - this is the music that is playing at the end of the movie when David jumps off the skyscraper.

Vanilla Sky was my introduction to this wonderful band and I am thankful that at least their track, "Svefn-g-Englar" was on the soundtrack. If you have not heard of Sigur Ros and are intrerested in something fresh and original, you can actually download dozens of their songs for free on their website at:

http://www.sigur-ros.co.uk/media/

"Untitled #4" (a.k.a. Njosnavelin or The Nothing Song) from the Vanilla Sky movie can be downloaded at the above link also!

I am rating the soundtrack 4.5 stars of 5 only because I would have been much happier with a two CD set that had another 17 tracks of great music from the film, even if I had to pay twice the price.

Looking back at this soundtrack four years after its release is an eye-opener. This soundtrack basically popularized and set the standard for the new millenium's ambient sub-culture. Not only that, but adding a retro element that's not matched on any other modern film that I've seen... This soundtrack is awesome in the most literal sense of the word. A great listen!

It's interesting, I thought, that the song "Western Union" was played as a kind of flash in David's mind. The Dakota building in which he supposedly lives was designed by the same people who designed the Western Union building in NYC. What importance does that flash/few seconds of that song have to the film?

Major disappointment when I bought this CD. The finest songs from the film aren't on it.

Great movie. Loved the ending song heard when Cruise jumps off and can't believe that song was cut from the soundtrack. The song sounds like Pink Floyd's little modernized brother. Great feel for the end of the movie.

I bought this album just out of the blue. I wasn't looking for anything in particular until I found this one. I really love the variety of music featured on this album. I especially like the Chemical Brothers and Radiohead. R.E.M. are very respectable as well. The rest of the album is pretty decent, although none of it is usually my choice of music. The only one I despise is Bob Dylan. God I hate that artist. But overall, I'm quite satisfied with this album.

Does anyone know the name of the song when Tom goes to the L E headquarters at the end of the movie when they're driving the car and it zooms out?

Love this soundtrack for four years now. It's still one of my favorites, even though I'm still searching for some songs that aren't on the CD. For example, the song which is played after the accident when David (Tom Cruise) is going outside for the first time and follows Sophia secretly. I think it's from Nancy wilson and is called "Guitar Beat" (see list above), but I can't get it anywhere! Can I find it anywhere?

The name of the song at the end of the movie when they're driving to LE Headquarters is called "Heaven" by The Rolling Stones, from the album "Tattoo You."

Yes, there are way too many good songs missing on the soundtrack.

The Nancy Wilson song is called "Elevator Beats" and I agree, I LOVE the song at the very end when David jumps off... VERY VERY dreamy touch to a very crazy movie.

I have also been in search of the song that is playing while Tom Cruise is in the elevator with Tech Support and I finally found it. The song is called "Doot Doot" by an 80s band called Freur.

I agree with all of you, the best songs aren't on the soundtrack CD! But I'm trying to get all of them. "Ladies and Gentleman We Are Floating in Space" is one of my fave songs! Also, the song that is playing when Tom is at the bar is "INDRA" by Thievery Corporation.

I love this movie... why?!?! I don't know... it's weird... this movie is like the ugliest girl in the entire school, but, by some fantastic and amazing magic you are the only person who realizes she is the most beautiful person on the planet. I've seen it a million times and I still can't figure out why it amazes me... but the music definitely does a lot! My favourite song is also Peter Gabriel's "Salsbury Hill." :-) And thank you SO much the first person who posted it here, cause I looked for it for HOURS!! It's WONDERFUL and I'm HAPPY!

CD is pretty rockin, but then you realize it's only 17 songs of the 40 that were heard in the movie. Yes, it is disappointing that there are more than 20 left off. This song and soundtrack definitely deserves to be a double disc CD. While there are a lot of tunes that are in the movie and absent on the soundtrack, it's still a really decent set. The CD is a good one to listen to during a road trip where you can just let your mind wander. But, there are some songs that wake you up and make you want to dance. A good cumulative effort, but leaves you wanting more.

PS, thank you for the entire list of the songs in the movie. That saved me hours!!!
