Is anyone here excited about The Green Mile? I'm DYING to see it and anxious for the score (Thomas Newman, of course). I work in a Wal-Mart Superstore Electronics department, and about every 10 minutes they show the trailer on tv with background music from Newman's The Horse Whisperer score. It's driving me crazy! I hope the movie and score are as good or better than The Shawshank Redemption. I hope I'm off work on the 10th!! The score is scheduled for release on December 21st. Dan, are you ready!?

PS For those of you who noted in previous postings about the lack of "chicks" here: I am a female score listener. "Chick" is not a very PC term. It suggests "bimbo." I doubt a "bimbo" even knows what a score is.

    I hate PC!!!!!!!!
    So there!

PS: I refer to the female gender as girls, not chicks.

I think 'chick' is the girl form of 'dude' which would refer to guys. Its not un-PC. Its just a slang word used to refer to a gender.

PC has been blown WAY out of control. If there is a word or phrase out there I am sure there is some form of group that will find offence to it and say its not very PC. We all just have to chill out.

I'M AM VERY EXCITED!!! I just finished the book last night and it is an amazing story - not very optimistic, but poignant. This one will be a real emotions jerker. The execution scenes are particularly graphic - I hear Newman's score is wonderful.

I keep seeing two conflicting dates about the score release...many resources report 12/14 and others report 12/21. Any guess about which one is correct? Warner Bros wrote me a few weeks ago and said the 14th.

    Anyone?

I'm truly looking forward to what I hope will be one of the best films of the year.

As far as the chick/bimbo thing goes, I don't think anybody here meant "bimbo." We listen to films scores, and as such, are way to good for bimbos.

I'm pre-ordering my copy right now at Buy.com! I hope it comes out on the 14th. I don't want to wait any longer! I'm sure it's going to be great. Thomas Newman hasn't disappointed me yet. Is there a website with sound clips or a track listing? I wonder how long it will be--hopefully a nice, healthy 60+ minutes.

PS I wasn't *that* offended. Just wanted to see your reactions. ;-)
Dave: Metallica S&M is pretty cool, eh? And I'm not really even a fan. I love track 2 on disk 1.
Dan: I'm sure you can get some mp3s before the UK release. ;-)
Anyone with ICQ, do you have mp3s from the American Beauty score tracks on the song cd!?

    Michel:

I have MP3s of the score tracks from the current song/score compilation. I'll try and confirm today when the score is going to be released. I want to see Newman top his work from Meet Joe Black (which is, IMHO, the best score he has released yet), although all of his scores stand extremely well on their own.

Dan: no need to worry! We'll shoot you some clips!

Can we assume that the American Beauty score tracks will be included in the upcoming score release? How many tracks are there on the soundtrack? I have one already, but it's on another computer so I can't see which one I have! I pre-ordered The Green Mile on the net last night which I'm sure will be faster than waiting for Wal-Mart to get it in for $18.88! I agree that Meet Joe Black is TN's best score--so far. I love it, but I do hope The Green Mile is even better. Have you heard The Player and Unstrung Heroes? How is Mad City? Trying to get them used.
