I just want to say what a great source of comfort and joy you guys are. My father was regrettably killed in a car crash at the weekend and tonight is the first time I've felt like visiting Moviemusic.com since the accident. I have been so depressed and sad obviously that coming onto the board and seeing all is well and as usual here has gone to filling in some of the emptiness and has given me renewed strength towards the feeling of "life goes on" and that all is not lost. So thanks guys, just by doing what you do here has helped me a little on the road to recovery, so keep up the great posts. Gae[This message has been edited by Gae (edited 06 March 2000).]

Gae-I am soo sorry to hear about that. I won't even pretend to know what that is like, as I couldn't imagine losing my father. I do know that it must be a very painful time for you. Yes, life does go on - but it's hard to realize that in such tragedy. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,

I'm sorry for your lost, Gae. I myself have lost many relatives, so I have some idea of what you're going through. Practically everyone on my mother's side has passed away, with the exception of a sister and a brother, and a couple aunts and uncles, though I can't even begin to think of what it must like to lose someone as close as your own father. My thoughts are with you and your family tonight, Gae.

Gae,
I understand what you are feeling. In October, my sister Clare was killed in a car accident. In a way, with a loss that sudden, it sometimes feels like it didn't happen at all--that eventually life will get back to the way it was just a week ago.I bet that you have some great memories of your Dad and some very profound emotions right now. If you need someone to listen, just email me, O.K.?

Gae, I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Four years ago one of the students in my school was killed, and I felt really bad and I know what your going through. You will always have friends here and you will always be welcome here.--Kyp

Gae,as the Timster noted above, I lost my own father just in the past week (well, a week ago Saturday) -- so I know what it feels like, and it is the only time in our lives we will ever feel this (we get but the one dad). It was less of a surprise in my case, though -- while losing someone in an accident (I've felt that one too, but not my dad) is a whole other proposition. Please accept the sympathy of another one who knows, and please take care of yourself. That's the most important part. We all, after all, are the ones who are still here. Who knows why we were PUT here, but "to take care of each other" does not sound like such a poor mission.
Sincerely,
"Hank"

I am so sorry to hear about your father. I personally have never had anyone close to me die, well my grandmother died from an stroke, and an few years ago I read in an newspaper that an friend from my youth, was killed when he had gotten into an fight and was pushed into oncoming traffic. Unfortunately I was not really close to either of them, but it still effects me to some extent today.Anyway, I know it will be an long time till you feel at least some what better, but I would like to wish you and your family my wishes.
Sincerely,

Gae, HRocco, Timmer, Mary and all who have lost close friends and relatives, my heartfelt condolences to all. Being a bit older than most of you here, i've lost both my parents. One VERY suddenly and one long and painfully. It is a feeling like no other.
I will keep you all in my heart.

Gae --Words really cannot express my sympathy at your loss. I hope that there is some comfort in the compassion that these fine people have shared. You have my best thoughts and prayers.
In reading these posts, I was again struck by two things.
First, how astoundingly fortunate I have been in this regard. I've seen plenty of death, including some good friends and some innocent strangers.....yet I know that pales with the loss of a parent (or child, for all that). I wish that I had the knowledge to ease your pain, Gae.
Second, and I've said it before, is that Life is as fragile as spun glass; also as beautiful. I hope, Gae, that you and everyone else here enjoys all that Life can be for a very long time.
Be careful out there, people.
And Gae - be good to yourself.

Thanks so much everyone for your kind words and wise comments. I'm overwhelmed by the response to my message in such a short time. It just goes to show what a wonderful, humane group of people we have here at Moviemusic.com. I thank you all for your concern and my heart goes out to everyone else who has suffered a tragic loss recently. I am sad to see how many other people here have lost someone close like myself. Life is precious, and if anything good has come from this, it is to grasp every moment of life, appreciate and love your friends and family while you can and never take them for granted. I have the strength to pull through this and hopefully to become a better person through the experience. All of your comments have helped me enormously towards that goal. Thank you all so much.

EdI know my grandmother took almost 5 years in great pain, before she past away, even though I was not that close with her I could see how it effected my father and grand father. Any ways, I hope nobody has to go through the same.

Gaetano,I am unfortunatley not a religious person, but I do believe in the strength of the human spirit. I know you will be strong enough to pull through this yourself, and if you are fortunate enough to have religion to guide you, it will be that much easier.
May he live forever in your music,
