The reason being that I guess I've been conned in a trade...5 months ago, I've made a trade deal with a guy whose got Days of Thunder and the complete Armageddon score. Both being my favorite of favorite scores, I made a trade deal with him. I sent him 2 bootleg videos and after a couple of weeks he received them.
We were contacting each other over ICQ when the stuff I sent were on the way. Once he received them, he begins to lose contact with me. He claimed that he sent his CDs over, and he said that he was out of town so he could not reply.
Now four months later, I'm still waiting for the CDs to arrive which I doubt it will...
I tried emailing and ICQing him, but his brother said that he is out of town and way too busy...
I am just dissapointed that there are such people who are so irresponsible, and now I will just have to make do with the Real Audio files I have of the 2 scores.
I will not disclose the name of the person yet... but if the situation forces me to do so, I will.

Hmmm...is it Jeff Johns perhaps? He's the biggest con artist of all of us film score folk. Complete liar and cheat. So, if it's him, you're definately not alone.Shaun

I've also considered trading for scores but I live in Canada, so things are much more expensive. In addition, I can't send personal cheques because I don't think the seller can cash them - money orders are the only way to go... I wish I could send cash, but who knows what might happen to it along the way?I hope your situation turns out for the good, Will. Good luck.

Shuan,I for whatever reason didn't want to mention his name yet, but since you did...
I was also screwed by Jeff Johns. I sent him some stuff, lets see, last October about, and still haven't recieved anything back from him. I advise everyone to be careful when dealing with people over the net.
and Will,
If you still need the scores to Days of Thunder and Armageddon complete, let me know, I can help you out there.

O.K. Thank you all very much for bringing up this subject. I did a trade with Jeff Johns back in August. Sent him six discs. Then his computer stopped working, then he never answered emails. I began threatening him (which I don't like to do) with letting all of you people know about him, then lo and behold, he returned my email. "I just got a new computer for Christmas. I'll get them out to you". Guess what, NO DISCS. I threatened again... "I'm soo busy". Then no replies again. It's been seven months now. I just told him last Wednesday that he has till today to get me my discs, or I go on line and let people know about him. He now emails me and tells me he sent the discs a week and a half ago. But guess what, to the wrong address, after I gave it to him at least 6 times. So the lastest today is that he just burned them again and will get them out tomorrow. I guess we'll see.

Why not just get a hold of the Postal fraud division of the your local post office. You might want to get in touch with his ISP as well. There are laws about doing what he has supposedly has done. Since I have not traded with him, I am just taking all of your words for it, though since more than an few has had problems with him, it does not look good.
Anyway, I bet if you were to do so, if you don't get your discs, at the very least it would prevent someone like him from continuing to do this in the future.

Over the years, I have lost 3 CD packages in mail (and now it seems like I've lost a 4th MASSIVE 11 CD package). But these have been lost between sender and receiver for stupid postal reasons (a film score freak postman without scrouples, perhaps?), not because the sender's illegitimate. However, I've been conned once. His name was Daniel Ek and resides in Australia. Please do not trade with this guy - he never returns e-mails and comes off with an impression of being a non-understanding 10 year-old ("Oh, please don't blame me, I'm only 10"-kind of attitude).

Thanks guys...I don't really know what to say, but "SCREW THAT SON OF A B**** !!!" Well, at least I don't have to hold my breath any longer for that _______ (fill in the blanks) to reply. I posted this topic reluctantly, as it would be the last thing I would do is to accuse him of cheating me. In fact, back in MovieTunes, somebody posted a message saying not to trade with Jeff Johns, but I ignored it as he sounded like he could be trusted...
Well now we know that there is a _______ (fill in the blanks) out there who cheats people of their collection. It's a good thing I didn't send him any money though, and the stuff I sent him was kinda cheap though, luckily.
And Audacity, I am most grateful of your offer. I will email you (or maybe ICQ?) to discuss further.
Once again, if anyone of us has been cheated, don't be afraid to expose the culprit!

Since we're naming names, I'll warn all of you about a guy named Martin Paternoster in the UK.He volunteered to obtain two BBC magazines that had a free CD of Rachel Portman's music in return for a CD of Bernstein's "Spies Like Us."
I readily agreed and had Screen Archives mail him the CD.
I waited and waited. He assured me he had the magazines, but was low on cash until payday when he could afford to send them. Then he forgot my address. Then he was low on cash...then my address.....this went on for more than a year....NOT by my prompting him...I gave up on him after one month and ordered the magazines directly from BBC. But he kept assuring me he had the magazines and would get them to me....he still pops up from time to time and I say nothing.
Be warned. He has no intention of following through on anything.

thanks for posting all the names. Now I know who to stay away from. Here's another:
JOHN TOWNSEND from New Jersey. I sent stuff for a trade with him over a YEAR ago and he never sent anything. When I sent my stuff, I waited about a month.
I think it's reasonable to think that he may have gotten delayed.
Nothing arrived after that time, so I figured I'd gotten hosed.
But I found an old email of his and emailed him back, basically chewing him out for screwing me on the trade. He was very apologetic, and would get the tapes out.
"They're very high quality tapes that I [he] monitors through out the whole process so he can guarantee the finest quality tapes." Well, whatever.Another 6 or 8 months have gone by and still nothing.

1. Jeff Johns (Oklahoma)
2. Daniel Ek (Australia)
3. Martin Patermoster (UK)
4. John Townsend (New Jersey)Don't hesitate to name someone who has not delivered you your stuff after 4 months.
May we trade only with the people who delivers their part of the trade.

I have a similar experience with someone who is supposed to have sent me Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade vol.2. When it arrived after 2 months of unanswered E-Mail, it turned out he had sold me a poorly dubbed CD-R.I posted about this elsewhere and suddenly he got back in touch with saying that his brother had been using his account and what would it take to make everything right. I also forwarded him an E-Mail from another burnt customer in Europe that I received after posting at that other place. I told him that at this point I would settle for a well-done CD-R.
He told me that he would get right on it. That was over 6 months ago. I had pretty much given up on it. Last week he writes me to say that he lost my mailing address. (Note that he had my email address and could have written me at any time) He says that he is sending me the CD-R. We shall see.
If I don't get something from him or hear from by the end of the week, I will add his name to this list of scoundrels.
It is interesting to note that none of these folk have responded to these posts to deny or dispute them.
Having said all that, I have to say that this is only incident that I can think where I have gotten burned. I have conducted awesome deals with several people and I also must confess that they have been very patient when they had to wait on my travel and work schedule. I think there is more good faith than bad faith out there!

Really, Audacity? Wow, that's amazing. I dropped to the conclusion of Daniel being a con artist, and decided to post it here, on the basis of several things:1. The only reply he gave me when I tried to mail him concerning the lost package, was that he would be off-line from now on and forever...
2. He acted "stupid", not understanding what the problem was...
3. He confused the titles we were trading all the time...
4. His posts were very vague and "gibberish/child-like" - hard to understand what his points were...
5. He claimed "I shouldn't blame him too much, because he was only 12 years old" or something like that...
6. Another contact of mine verified that he too had had problems with Mr. Ek and failure of delivery...
HOWEVER, if what Audacity says, is true (Audacity is a trustworthy guy!) and Daniel really IS a swell and honest guy... well, then I'm VERY sorry for "blacklisting" him on this board, and urge everyone to disregard my comments on him in this thread. That goes to show that one shouldn't draw any conclusions before anything is completely verified by multiple sources...

This is an ongoing saga between myself and Mr. Target. The trade went relatively smoothly, we each got our respective discs (mine in nothing more than one of the free postal envelopes with no padding whatsoever, but the CD arrived fine), but here's why I don't trust Mr. Target. The trade was set up under the agreement that neither of us could list/trade/sell the items we were trading for. What does he do? The second he gets it, he announces to the world that he has the thing, and begins to sell it for upwards of $30! A CDR! That's just wrong, in my book.
So, you'll forgive me if I hold a grudge. Spineless? At least I post under my real name.
