I caught this film on television today and found there to be a particular theme that sounded quite lovely. I wasn't sure who did the score, so I checked it out online and found that John Barry did it. But I noticed that the Varese released soundtrack only has 4 tracks of his score. I'm just curious if those who have heard it think it's worth getting. I'm not even sure it has the theme I'm talking about on it. It was a quite, relaxing theme (and was played, for those of you who have seen the movie, during the scene where Peggy Sue goes to her house for the first time after traveling back in time and see's her mom, sister, and her room)...anyway, I'm not sure if that helps any, but I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks!

that movie didn't have a lot of score to begin with, from what I remember.

Yeah, I've got the LP. The music in the final scene is especially beautiful. 'S been a while and you've spurred me on to give it another listen. Will report back.

Howard must have fallen asleep a la Rip Van Winkle.... well, for two years and counting, anyway.

The opening track on the CD is called "Peggy Sue's Homecoming," and it is indeed the music yer looking for, DeadPoet. Even with the songs, the CD chimes in at 26 minutes. Short, but it's a sweet listen (of course, these kinds of John Barry scores make 10 minutes seem like 30, so....).

It's a lovely score well worth having. As JJ said, it is short, there's not that much score in the film.

I think Barry's talent is very missed in these testosterone themeless crap films we hear so much of these days, no wonder people miss the talents of the like of Georges Delerue and Henry Mancini...s'bout time somebody gave Barry a fine film to score!

NP : The Sum Of All Fears - Goldsmith...one of the better scores i've heard this year!

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...YAWN...oh what time is it...hey, what the--PETER!!!!

Whew, nothing like a 2 and a HALF year nap. Gonna havta shave. Anyway, just listened to the LP and it's just as lovely as ever, a hint of what was to come a few years down the road with Dances With Wolves. Yep, Peggy Sue's Homecoming is the keeper, a waltzy variation on an old children's theme. Indeed, the scene when Peggy sees her little sister sent chills up m'old spine in the theatre. It's very reminiscent of a most touching moment in classic Twilight Zone's Death Ship wherein the Ross Martin character is reunited with his little daughter. Anyway, I also love the shimmering strings of Charlie, I Had The Strangest Experience that segue into the main theme as heard on the patented Barry sax. This part of the cue underscores the final moments of the film. Truly, powerful stuff, both in the flick and on its own.
