It seems people are being scared off by actually meaningful posts on serious topics. (It is in stark contrast to the rest of the thread.)
SO, here's a meaningless post for you:Fried Freg
Ingredients:
1 complete Freg, freshly caught
1 cup finely chopped onions
½ cup milk
1 cup water
1/3 cup bread flour
1 tablespoon chopped basil
1 cup dried and diced tomato
1 cup barbecue sauce (your choice)
½ cup breadcrumbs
½ cup vegetable oilFirst, remove the exoskeleton from the Freg and set it aside. Next, take the legs, head, etc., and store frozen (although not included in this delicacy, they may be used later for other dishes.).
Slice the Freg into long strips, approximately six inches long and two inches thick. Lay on wax paper.
Heat a large frying pan on medium-high. When hot, pour in half the oil and all of the milk.
Brush the Freg strips lightly with half the breadcrumbs, and place in pan. Cooking time should be approximately ten minutes on each side. Add the onions immediately before turning.
While the strips are frying, mix the Barbecue sauce, basil, tomatoes, water, flour, the remaining oil, and half the onions in a large saucepan. Simmer on low until Freg is finished cooking.
By this point, the Freg strips should be ready to turn. Flip them carefully with a non-stick spatula. Note that they should be golden brown on the cooked side. Be certain to lay the uncooked side on the onions you should now have placed in the pan. Preheat your oven to 350.
When the strips are finished cooking, drain them well. When drained, place them in a large baking pan. Pour the sauce over them gradually, being sure to cover them completely. Sprinkle the remaining breadcrumbs on top, cover with foil, and bake for ten minutes in the now-heated oven.
When you remove the completed dish, allow it to cool for ten minutes. Then, remove the foil and serve with your favorite side dishes. (Assuming use of one medium-sized Freg, this dish should serve six people.)[Message edited by John Dunham on 10-15-2000]

Glad we're back to some more comfortable things. I feared my comment about death penalty would lead to something like the last 2 pages, but I just couldn't resist the urge to comment on it any longer. So, on a lighter note: I'll finally be getting a cat in about one week! Guess what I'll call him (no Mark (Hatfield), you may NOT guess, as you already know the answer ).

It's hard NOT to root for the Rams and that video-game offense. Kurt Warner is one of those "gotta-love-him" rags-to-riches stories, and they score about as often as we used to in sandlot games as a kid. I'm a 49ers fan from WAY back (and I am from Southern California, to boot; I well remember John Shaw and Georgia Frontiere running the team into the ground in order to leave town, just like that movie MAJOR LEAGUE). However, it is so fun to just watch these Rams play that I find myself pulling for them. I hope that they set virtually every offensive record in the book (save for Steve Young's single-season quarterback rating, which looks to be in serious trouble).Glad I'm not the only football lover here, Mark.

Another pointless post, just because now that we're out of the actually important discussions, I can post whatever I feel like without needing to go too deep into thought. In fact, this post requires NO thought! How about that! (By clinical defenition, I could be a non-living object here, since I'm not engaging in intelligent thought. Well, if we can win Joan over to the "Briefs" side...WE CAN WIN ANYTHING!Although I had been feeling for quite a while now that her view on Boxers was undergoing modification. Sometimes in midlife, changes in firmly-held opinions about certain topics is common.
That recipe for Fried Freg is EXACTLY the same as the recipe I use for Miggle Strips! I wonder if there's any difference between Freg and Miggle?

Marian, if your cat is a female, name her..... Joanie when she is young, Joan when she is older and Momma Joan if she is a "cool cat." Higgins if it is a male, which sounds so distinguished. Actually, you should name the cat after one of your favorite movie characters or composers. I'd name mine Heathcliff!!

NP: Symphony No. 7 Ludwig Van[/B]Virginia. But Freg can only be caught in salt water, so you have to go down to Virginia Beach to get some. It's a long drive, but it's worth it.
I believe Freg can be found in any moderately cool water, usually around the coast. You have to catch them in metal mesh nets, though, because their pinchers can cut through rope.NP: Beyond Rangoon, Zimmer

Repeating TWICE is three or four, depending on whether or not you repeat the first post or the third post for the second repeat. Of course, you could also repeat the second post which is in fact a duplicate of the first, unless the first post was a repeat of something else and the second post is an original, unless it's snowing outside, in which case the fourth post is moved back to the beginning, unless it's a leap year when it stays where it is, unless it's Feburary 29th, in which case it switches places with the second post, which is replaced by a completely different repeat of another post in the evenings, unless it's daylight savings time. If your state or town doesn't run on Daylight savings time, the second post is the third post, until there's an eclipse, when the it goes back to the way it was in the first place. If it's an eclipse of the earth, however, the fourth and first posts switch with the third and second posts, except in the month of july, when its the other way around, and in December, when all the posts must contain a reference to Santa Claus.
