Well, I hate to post a message like this. Life is not going well for me at all. Many things are happening and they all are happening at the same time.

One of my best friends got in a very bad accident and passed away. Another stressful thing is that my computer got hold of a virus by the name of ANTImedia. It took out every single composition on my computer, including all mp3's, wav's, midi's, finale files, etc. Unfortunately I did not save the work that I have been working on for the past three months. Deadlines for some of the musicis next week and my student recital is also next week. All of my music is gone and the stress is piling up. I am at a total loss and feel like complete crap.

Also, I dropped a bottle of mayonaise on my foot and really wrecked up my leg and foot.

Thankfully, I can find much love and kindness on this messageboard. Thank you to all for hearing out my problems and trying your best to cheer me up. But, when I see all that work just disappear, I just cannot help be upset. Life is not going good for me and I am sorry I will not be able to post for a while. I am going to try to get through this and hopefully all will eventually turn out well.

    Thanks,
    Aaron

    A bottle of mayonaise?!

You are human, Aaron, and as such, you have more than enough ability to get through this. Though it is very unfortunate for this all to be happening at the same time, low points like this are never ever-lasting.

    Aaron, YOU SHALL PREVAIL!

Hardship is simply a hurdle to be leaped over, and you have already well demonstrated that your character is up to the challenge.

    Go to it, man!

I lost my hard drive and almost all my writings once. It was a terrible blow, but through the kindness of my friends and family and a lot of hard work, I survived.

Aaron, you've proven your tenacity and drive to this board time and time again. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this difficult time. We know you'll succeed in spite of tragedy. Don't be afraid to lean on us for support.

P.S. It's gonna take more than a stupid mayo jar to stop Aaron Collins!

    Aaron,
I know we havent really gotten a chance to know each other, but I know you can make it through this!! I had a very similar experience last February. My fiancee, who i have been seeing for 2 years, i had found out she had been cheating on me. On top of that she broke the marriage off over e-mail. ouch. To make things worse, my film school at Baylor U. in Texas dropped their film program, so i had to find another school. This all happened the same day, Feb 2nd. So I know where youre coming from man, just hang in there, you'll make it!!! Heck, I did. And now I'm up in beautiful bozeman montana going to film school. Everything does work out. The best advice i can give you, is to take it a day at a time. Good Luck man!

I'll forego the question as to whether you had to go to the Mayo Clinic for treatment, but does anybody have any sound files they received from Aaron that they could send back to him to help him rebuild?

Hang in there buddy! We'll leave a light on.

Aaron, I've got about 30-40 of your recordings on my system... of course, I think you know this. At any rate, I'll be interested in knowing how your dilemma plays out. I hope in some way I was able to help last night during our phone conversation. I also hope troubleshooting was some help as well! I'll get with ya tonight and we'll see what we have to do to set this thing straight. Regardless, I can help you piece your portfolio back together (if only partially) with the things you've sent me over the past year.

    Talk to you soon.

Aaron, if you find yourself getting too depressed over all this, stop and think for a moment about how LUCKY you are to have the talent to WRITE music, instead of just LISTEN to it, like the rest of us. In the long run, this is much more important than this temporary setback, as frustrating as it certainly must be. With your perseverance and the help of your friends, we know you'll prevail!

Aaron, my brother...the thoughts of those who care for you are always right beside you. the beauty of the creative mind is that there IS an infinite well to draw from...and you, without a doubt, have found the well spring. What is lost might be replaced (thanks to the forethought and collecting intincts of Jeron - our hero - well done, Jeron!), but there is SO MUCH MORE for you in the future. Aaron!! So much more! NEVER EVER lose sight of htat nor forget it.

THAT was my pep speech for your creative loss. As for your personal loss, no words can come close to helping you feel better about this. The best I can do for you is this: 1) although the pain will never go away completely, it will be replaced by a desire to balance of love nad a positive outlook. Nture, after al, abhors a vaccuum and will make every effort to fill it. The passing of your friend will, no doubt, inspire you to create something glorious and uplifting to replace the pain of loss. 2) I thank the universe daily for people such as Jeron, Scott, Mark Hatfield, Brad, Shaun and all of you out there who rush to the aid of friends (and strangers). As you so aptly put it, Aaron, there is no want for love and support here on this board. We, like so many other "minorities" and sub-cultures, do strive to look after our own...and I am grateful for this. I know you are in good hands and I don't worry about your well-being quite as much. 3) Life is like ALIENS (no, it isn't a rip off of Khatachaturian...PLEASE...). It's a roller-coaster ride...highs and lows, ups and downs. If ever there comes a low point where you wonder HOW you'll reach the top again, just remember to look at the big picture...realize that you may be at a low point in the ride of life, but that next rise is just around the corner, ready to lift you high and set you sailing on the breeze.

Aaron, my brother, friend and colleague, you have all the love that is mine to give, all the support that is mine to offer and all the strength at my command.

    GREAT BIG HUG!!!!!!!!

    Joe

    Aaron,
Without sounding patronising you are young, and as you get older you'll find these stumbling blocks put in your way from time to time. I'm only 39 (...going on 18 ) and I think I've already experienced enough tragedy, likely as not there's more to come but thats the way life is. to quote: That which does not kill us makes us stronger!

You have some fine and good friends on this board Aaron some of whom you even know personally and that is a blessing man.

Anyway, You will resolve everything, I know.

    yours

    Tim

p.s. That must have been one mean sized mother of a jar of mayo

Aaron, I'm really sorry for you. Just to try to help a bit: Although there may be not much you can do, there's still a chance that your files are not entirely lost. There are lots of "reconstruction" programs out there, some of which reportedly work quite well. Of course, it all depends on HOW the files were deleted, but some programs can reconstruct some files that were deleted years ago! Also, though VERY expensive, there are data rescuing labs. If really important data is lost, and you have the money, they may be able to help.

    Come back soon!

    Aaron!
That sux dude! I feel your paiiinnnn...

At any rate...I had a bad day today myself. I was sitting in the library on campus hoping to go over some poetry with this realy cool lady friend I sit with in class. I began to rummage through the bag and *gasp* the textbook with the recent poetry reading assignments weren't there! Sooo...Off I went down a rainy street (a 10 minute walk, and for a guy who's going on 26 years old and out of shape, this is a big deal) to drive 15 minutes to my house, then BACK to the campus, and back up the rainy street to the library. There was the girl of my dreams waiting for me...

...and on the staircase I noticed some recently spilled coffe. The girl who was waiting for me apparently slipped on the stairs (due to the wetness of the soles of her shoes), fell right on her ass, and spilled cofee on herself. And I thought I was having a bad day, hehe

I've been there, Aaron ... lost my best friend (up till then) in bizarre circumstances almost ten years ago, so I know the feeling. (Having a bit of a flashback thinking about it, actually.) What can I tell you that you don't already know? Except time does heal, and do remember that addictive intravenous narcotics are NOT the answer but you knew that, isn't that what Mr. InSanDiego's movie is about ...?

    Be well.

Aaron, Bud, dont leave us whatever you do!! Ive just got back on the board today and I'd hate to see that you weren't around. Im sorry to hear about all your losses but unfortunately life throws these things at us from time to time. Hopefully though, you will pull through these hard times and become a stronger person because of it. I've had my fair share of bad experiences also as you know...my father died in a car crash and I've had problems with vandals and yobbos in my neighbourhood. With the help and support of friends and family also, you and loads of people on this message board, I've pulled through it all and I now have a wonderful new life in my new home out in the country. I'd have never thought my life would have changed so much in such a short time. At the moment things look black, but in time you will put this all behind you and find the strength to push forward into a brighter future. A guy with your talent has a great future ahead, so dont give in pal, we're all rooting for you!! Catch you on AOL sometime! Gae

How can someone stay off a site that is so hearty like this?

Thanks for the nice posts, nice telephone conversations, and the nice emails. Also, thank you Shaun for those great vigorous videos. I still cannot explain how those two bodies can do all those type of things! They were definitely stimulating!

Unfortunately, I had to format my drive and re-install all my media, software, and hardware. All my scores, works in progress, and recordings are gone and I have to start anew. So, like my composition teacher said, "think of this as a cleansing and new start."

I have been rejected from a few films I was working on. Unfortunately with this computer crash, I have one week to work on these films which is definitely not enough time.

I would never leave this board and the thought would not even enter my head. Thanks again for the support and love and I am back!

    Thanks,
    Aaron

Hey, Aaron, good to see you around again.

Although it's hard, see it at least that way that you've learned a bit from the computer crash: Data loss is lurking at every corner, especially if you're using Windows. Regular backups can save months of work (which reminds me that I should do some backups myself).

I hope things get better for you soon.

    Hi Aaron,

I just been away for a while so I'm back and You're back.
    Keep composing.
If You lost Your scores you have the Ideas on Your mind.
Just re-write them as it was a re-recording.
Perhaps You develop a new view of the old work.
    I do that a lot.
Mahler did all the time and it works very nicely.
Or, at least I think so...
