Hmmmm - the trailer looks quite cool, but according the Dark Horizons, it's heading straight to vid on Dec 18th. Anyway, just wondering if anyone knew who was scoring it? I'd heard that it might be Marco Beltrami, which would make sense, given that it's directed by Patrick Lussier, who edited all 3 Screams, Mimic, & Halloween H20. Any ideas, anyone?

Marco Beltrami is doing the score.I don't know about the home video thingy - if so, that would be a shame, but what can you do?

The movie IS going to theater. They are still showing the trailer and they are showing trailer spots on tv. Dimension Films sid they had a great test screening so I doubt that they are just going to take it off.
Marco Beltrami is doing the score. And I soundtrack is coming out on Sony records. i just hope it's Marco's music.

I saw the trailer for it 2 days ago in front of.....what the hell did I see......Oh.....Blair Witch 2.It looked like an.....interesting movie I guess....it cant be worse than Carpenters' Vampires or Embrace of the Vampire or Dead and Loving It......so Im wondering just how "unsound" the number crunchers feel it would be to "go wide" with it.
After hearing of the direct to video ruling it occurred to me just how awful many of "us" and most in the industry think "direct to video" is. Fans were outraged by the (uneccesary sequel) Crow:Salvation earning this fate. After seeing the tralier for Dracula2000 (which looked at least 70% promising) I thought to myself how cool and appealing (to me) it would be to have more big budgeted features "direct to DVD". I'd (at least) rent them.
I think there is an opportunity here that may be missed by the business of Hollywood. I think that the emerging media of DVD is (arguably) more appealing a banishment than video (right now). I for one would definitely buy or rent a huge SCIFI or Horror production when it came out. Lets say that SCIFI channel wasnt going to air DUNE just release it on DVD....I'd BUY THAT IN A HEARTBEAT!!!
I know I'll buy Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, though it was NEVER to be released in the theatre.
I guess what Im saying is that direct to DVD isnt as bad as it sounds.

Aha, apparently it's not heading to video after all. From Dark Horizons :"Since reporting that rumour yesterday about Wes Craven's vamp project going straight to video rather than hitting the screen, there's been a whirlwind of calls and e-mails about it trying to confirm or deny the item - then the official verdict came in early this morning Ausralian time. The good news, according to Dimension Films and Wes Craven himself is that "Dracula 2000" is indeed going for its theatrical release as planned - "the film is on track for a December 22 release in theaters throughout the US. Trailers for the film have already begun showing in theaters - and, as a matter of fact, they have been testing through the roof". Sincerest apologies on my behalf about the confusion. "
Good news. Not quite so hot about the CD, though. The CDNow listing says this:
"EXPLICIT VERSION POWERMAN 5000/SLAYER/PANTERA"
explicit version, presumably meaning explicit lyrics - hence a song album. Oh, boy do I hope that's wrong, or if it is right, that someone (Varese?) will do a full score CD. Although maybe, it's just one song, like Interview with the Vampire or Bram Stoker's Dracula. If anyone can find out a tracklisting, I'd love to see it.

And speaking of Marco Beltrami...David E. Kelley recently lost the composer for The Practice (Christophe Beck) who moved on to films. At least for last week's ep, his replacement was...Marco Beltrami. I know Marco did Tuesday's With Morey, but that was a TV MOVIE. Wonder how much his salary set Kelley back...

I would not hope for a full score edition, unless it's a promo. Thaxton (yes, Ford Thaxton again) said somewhere that the music was recorded in LA with a very big (I believe he said "huge") AFM orchestra. And you know what that means: $$$$$$$.
If we get a 30 minute Varčse Sarabande CD we should all be happy.NP: The Saint (Revell)
