Okay folks, this may have been posted already, but Justin Caine Burnett's score for the aforementioned movie is being released from New Line Records on 1/16/01.

Has anyone seen an advance screening for the movie or heard the score...I'm crossing my fingers.

From the trailers, the movie looks very cool. My only problem with it is Wayans. Why do they keep making serious films and putting in crappy comic relief. That's the only thing I'm worried about with this movie. Just like ID4. As much as I like it, I think it could've been better actually without the comedy from Will. He can be serious. Anyway, just my thoughts.

Saw the film on Monday. The interview with Justin Caine Burnett just went up on SoundtrackNet
    http://www.soundtrack.net/

The score is pretty good - it's very thematic, and heroic. And yes, the trailer bit uses themes from the score.

Unfortunately the film suffers from a lot of "missed opportunities", where it could have been much better than it really was. In many cases, just when something starts to look interesting, the film just cuts to the next scene.

My god, I outscooped Crono! Holy Expletive!
This will have to go down as a holiday on the calendar at Moviemusic.com: Decmeber 8th- Outscoop Crono Day!

The down side is we have to wait a month for it, if we like at all. I'm actually focused more on Vertical Limit right now. By the way, Kyp- do you have any track times for Vertical Limit?

    I can't wait! I loved the score!

The movie was enjoyable enough... but it could have been much better.

    But the music was excellent.

I'm embarassed to say that I actually enjoyed the movie...in spurts. I did think that the music was one of the strongest elements though...I look forward to the CD.

Just saw the film and the score was very good. Lost of blood and thunder as you would expect.

Was it just me or was Jeremy Irons awful? He should never eat again after all the scenery he chewed. There was not one scene where he wasn't over the top.

No doubt...I'm amazed that for a movie with such low expectations that the one actor with any real talent was so spectacularly bad. His dialogue might have sounded good in a fantasy novel...but his gyrations and arm-waiving on screen was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.

Still like it though...what that says about my mental health...not sure....

I liked it too. I just wish he had played it straight instead of hamming it up and showing such contempt for the material.

I grant you that this would never be a Citizen Kane but he could have done a better job.

Wow, read the whole post, and no one gets specific about this score!!!

Good interview at sndtk.net Dan with JCB...so the album is 76mins of the 105min score eh?

What does it sound like? Is it big orchestral like KRULL, or closer to Don Davis' fantasy scores...or closer still to the Media Ventures Menace

Someone gimme the skinny on this one!

It's not coming out for another MONTH? Then why do we have one at the store right now?

    Weird.

    OHMSS76...
Definently not in the vein of Media Ventures...loud, brass score, very thematic...along the lines of Joel Goldsmith, David Arnold and John Debney. Krull and Cutthroat Island come to mind.

Huzzah! Thanks Quill, that is what I wanted to hear!

I read the dreaded(or applauded) MV in the interview so you can never tell...

Incidentally, I thought the score for Kull The Conqueror was great by JG Jr.
Fun listen, even though Nic Dodd's overwrought orchestrations and cond. threaten to muck things up.

I agree...unfortunately a conspiracy of Gremlins or something of that nature has left me with only an empty CD case for Krull...ahh the agony...I can only read the track titles now.
