    Here we go...

Lost World - I liked it but not too much. The main theme is good and quite unique, but the CD isn't as interesting as JP.

Dinosaur - I'd get this if I were you. Great themes, great action music, and the cue 'Breakout' is superb.

Young Indy - Ask Hatfield - he has them all and loves them.

Beethoven - Some decent music. He had nice hair too

The rest - never heard them, excpet the main theme from Amistad which is ethnic and uplifting.

    Hope this helps.

Lost World--This score has much to recommend it and recalls some of Williams TV work. "The Hunt" is the highlight of the disc. However, there are fewer "themes" here so it is a harder listen.

Volcano--not bad, I'd get it "used", but it is another good action score; "March of the Lava" is a highlight.

Amistad--Very good Americana score with setting of "Dry Your Tears, Afrika". One of the best sores of that year.

Dinosaur--One of the best scores from last year. A great mix of Goldsmith/Williams, and Howards own style, taking us into what will no doubt become a "classic".

Saving Private Ryan--One of William's finest achievements. Again, the music hinges on "Hymn to the Fallen" so there are not many themes to latch onto. But it is a mastery of restraint in the way "Patton" was.

Lost World...The Hunt is a great track, the rest is fairly uninspired.

Volcano...What I remember from the film was fairly good, pretty standard Silvestri by all accounts.

Dinosaur...fantastic...Great themes, good orchestrations, a score with an abundance of energy.

The Siege...a good Revell outing. Some good ethnic themes, and a great, albeit short, action piece.

Saving Private Ryan...decent theme...pretty bland overall. I've only spun it a couple times.

    Haven't heard the others.

Good morning, sir. Here we go:

Saving Private Ryan-I like Patriot score a lot better, but this film better than Patriot. A low key subdued score. Too much of the Hymn for the Fallen on it. Not bad, but very subdued.

    Volcano=the march is good.

    More in a minute. JW.

    The rest:

Williams-Lost World, pretty good in places, especially the cue where the dinosaur is on the rampage. The cover version of it on the Neil Norman CD is fantastic. Better than the original. I would get this though.

Amistad isn't too bad. Its a little better than Saving Private Ryan but still very subdued. Seems to fit film well though.

One True Thing-if you have heard Eidelman's scores for these types of films they are all kind of similar. Best, John.

Get ALL the Young Indy CDs. They are wonderful - every last one of them. McNeely's and Rosenthal's contributions are NOT to be missed. Pure brilliance.

    Lost World
Good, not as good as JP. Still worth it, especially for The Hunt, which is better on the CD than in the film.

    Volcano
Fun action score, March Of The Lava, as said, being the highlight.

    Amistad
Very good, but I'm not sure why. I just like it a lot.

    Dinosaur
Best of 2000. (Okay, that's from a die-hard JNH fan. Still, this is a great score.)

    One True Thing
    Return To Paradise
    The Beast
    The Siege
The young Indiana Jones chronicles 4
    Beethoven

    No clue.

    Saving Private Ryan
Overrated. Only "Hymn To The Fallen" is any good. The rest of the CD just drones.

I happen to enjoy The Lost World quite a bit. It's not your standard "Purdy themes" Williams score. It's a very dark, agressive, and rhythmic venture from the Maestro. Definitely a fun action score- especially if you like percussion. I guess it's a disapointment if you want the lush lyricism of Jurassic Park. I, for one, am glad that Williams didn't give us more of the same for The Lost World. I like Williams when he's (for lack of a better word) "ballsy" and agressive.

Now, if they'd only give us a good release of his other ballsy and agressive sequel score- Temple of Doom!!

    Lost World

An excellent score, nearly as good as Jurassic Park, and that's one of his best IMHO.

    Amistad

Has some very fine parts. Tends to get a bit repetitive during several parts of the CD, but the highlights are well worth it.

    Saving Private Ryan

Extremely subdued. A fine work, and Hymn to the Fallen is wonderful, but I don't play it very often.

Lost World, Amistad, and Saving Private Ryan:
You can't go wrong with John Williams. I highly recommend all three.

    Volcano:
A fun score by Silvestri. One of those guilty pleasures.

    Dinosaur:
    I like it. Typical JNH

Man, hope you enjoy Lost World and Dinosaur. Get Saving Private Ryan next. I gave it five stars in a review I did, and I don't give five stars to ANYTHING! I concluded my review by saying that "Saving Private Ryan confirms John Williams as one of the most important artists of his generation". In fact, I think it confirms him as one of the most important artists of the 20th century.
