Hello to all,My name is Dylan and I'm new to these boards. Indeed this looks like a very nice place with some very kind and cool people. My habbies are films, viewing and researching stop-motion animation and listening to film music. My favorite composers are Danny Elfman, Bernard Herrmann, Richard Band, Bruce Broughton, John Williams, Alan Silvestri and Jerry Goldsmith. Amoung my favorite scores are The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Monkeybone, Gremlins and The Empire Strikes Back. I love Richard Band's Puppetmaster theme and I think it has been the greatest thing he has done. I think Anne Dudley did a great job collaborating with the brilliant Henry Selick on Monkeybone to provide a very jazzy, wacky, dramatic and beautiful score to his surreal images. Some of themes reminded me of the great Raymond Scott who wrote cartoon music in the 1940's and 50's. Bernard Herrmann's 7th Voyages of Sinbad in my opinion is his best work. It always takes me away when I listen to it. Again, it's nice to be here. Hope to meet many who appreciate film music as much as I do.
Best Regards,

Welcome Dylan. Nice list of composers. You're so young to know Herrmann. I see you are from Washington. There are four or five of us on the Board from Washington. Where are you from? I'm from the Tri Cities, and I know several are from the Seattle area and one from Ellensburg. I'm the "mom" on this Board. Hope you enjoy us.NP Amanda

Hi DylanWelcome to the list. There are some people you need to steer clear of. Cine-sin is the worst. Avoid at all costs.

Welcome, Dylan, to the friendliest, safest place to talk about film music on the Web. I see that you listed Richard Band as one of your favorite composers. Have you heard any of his music from Ghost Warrior? Very exciting music...

Hey. Always good to see new blood. And as said earlier, it's impressive to see a high school student who's into something beyond the most recent films and pop music. For you to watch Harryhausen and find it cool instead of laughable puts you into a league of your own. All of us combined form a pretty formidable resource of film and film music info that can answer your questions and steer you towards new & neat acquisitions.

I second that emotion Timmer. Also, anyone who's a fan of Bernard Herrmann is a friend of mine!
Welcome Dylan. P.S. I used to be a fan of Harryhausen and Herrmann at the tender age of 10...26 years later, I've still yet to see this partnership improved upon! Gae NP Superman

Hi All,Thank you for the warm welcome. I've been a Harryhausen fan since I was 9 years old and I find his work to be absolutly incredible. Yes, it is unique that I'm someone who's favorite kind of music is film music and who's passion is the art of stop-motion that's my age. Nice to hear so many compliments about some of the greatest film composters. No, I have not heard Richard's Ghostwarrior but I plan to purchase his compilation soon and I'll be able to listen to it.
Best Regards,

If it wasn't for the internet and great places like Moviemusic.com that would be sadly true though wouldn't it? Its only in the last couple of years of internet surfing that I've been able to find and chat to other film music fans from all over the world. What would we do without our beloved board? Continue to feel musically alienated from the majority of our friends and family I suppose!

Welcome to the most dysfunctional message board on the internet! Here are a few pointers:
1. Never mention James Horner ripping himself off. The next day there will 500 posts saying they hate Hans Zimmer.
2. Don't ever compair Jerry Goldsmith to John Williams. The next day there will be 500 posts saying they hate Hans Zimmer.
3. Don't ever mention Hans Zimmer...because Andre Lux will have to then post 500 quotes defending his distain for Hans Zimmer.
4. Finaly don't ever try to explain to the general public why you like movie scores. They will stare at you like you just tried to explain nuclear physics to them. Then they will ask you if you have the album to either Greese or Cats.

Hey, I love Zimmer and Horner. Anyways...Welcome, welcome!! I kind of remember when I was new to the old board, my first scores were on cassette tape, Dances With Wolves (now i have it on CD, definitely still one of my faves) and Jurassic Park. I am sure, Dylan, that you will come here often to find answers, and to ask questions!!
