This is a great two disc set and it's cheap. You can get it for the cost of a single CD! The Jarre disc is nice, opening with the Thunderdome fanfare, a suite of music for Georges Franju films, a suite for Shogun, and the usual David Lean suites. The real gem of this set is the second disc featuring music by Jose Nieto. There is some terrific stuff on this disc, including exciting suites of music for Star Knight (Il Caballero Del Dragon) and Captain Cook. Sound quality is really good on both discs, considering they are live recordings.

along these same lines, let me recommend Maurice Jarre at Abbey Road. terrific; the orchestral realizations of his electronic scores are exceptional.

And since you asked, Amer, here is the track list, since the Varese site is broken

1.Fanfare from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome :44
    2.Suite Georges Franju 15:07
    3.Witness 4:47
    4.Shogun 6:48
    5.Lullaby from the Damnned 2:53
    6.Passage to India 9:46
    7.Ryans Daughter 8:10
    8.Doctor Zhivago 9:42
    9.Lawrence of Arabia 12:32

    Disc Two Jose Nieto
1.The Night of Spanish Film 3:36
2.If You are Told That I Died 7:08
3.Two Love Themes(It is Necessary to Kill - This Is My Land) 7:17
    4.Captain Cook 12:30
    5.Teresa De Jesus 15:14
    6.Walking Through Seville 4:21
7.The Lord of The Dragon 15:33

There ya have it! Now as much as I love Jarre, that disc is a bit of a letdown. The Franju suite is very poorly played, compared to the RPO on the Milan disc Jarre at Abbey Road. Shogun features now thematic parts, only a re-rec. of "Tea and Jealousy". The Lean suite is good, but again better performed on the RPO Jarre disc. The Nieto disc is much better though, so if it's affordable it buy the set. I just prefer the available RPO recordings on Jarre.

    NP:Hmmmm....take a guess!

    Best,
    Sean
