The current poll asks you to select your favorite John Williams score among a handful of selections. For devoted Williams' fans, this should be a difficult one. For Star Wars fans, it's a no brainer. For Harry Potter fans, no magic is needed.... uhhh, for those who want to argue about the selections that weren't included, be my guest. The floor is yours.posted 11-27-2001 10:55 PM PT (US)

Geesh Peter, your selections stink! Where's Earthquake? and The River? and Stanley and Iris? and Sleepers? and Always? and CE3K? and Empire of the Sun? and Sabrina? and Nixon? and Patriot? and Home Alone? and The Cowboys? and The Fury? and Dracula? Who do you think you are forgetting all of these on the poll? And you call yourself a film music fan... hmph.
Jeron
PS- Seriously though, with the Holidays coming up and all, Home Alone coulda been on there... rather than... Potter. Guess it doesn't really matter though, cause I woulda still voted Raiders. RIGHT SHAUN?? Then of course... I guess Alex wouldn't know. And neither would Mommy Hue.

Alrighty, Jeron, sufferer of winkifitus.Home Alone has been considered... the movie... and the score... and there really isn't too much that plops into my head as far as the music is concerned. Eh, who knows. Perhaps John Williams' most magnificent theme is found in Home Alone, and I've forgotten it. Arg!

Winkifitus? Why, whatever do you mean?
Was Potter included simply for popularity's sake? And yes, Home Alone's theme belongs on Williams' long, long, long list of magnificent themes.

Of course it's nearly impossible to choose upon these, but I had to go with...E.T.
One of my truly favorite scores, and in the long run probably has more meaning to me than the others shown (even though Star Wars was the score that got me into scores).
The fact that Harry Potter is even ON the list gets me upset (come on people, we all know it doesn't hold a candle compared to the other scores on here, as well as a ton of other scores in Williams' career), but the fact that currently it's almost #1 makes me want to jump out of this window staring at me so wickedly.
Granted there are only 30 votes or so right now, but if this keeps up, I just might jump.

Of the current selection, I picked Hook. Perhaps I should have picked Star Wars, but all 4 SW scores are great, so it was easier to pick the other single outstanding score. Where's an official 2CD or 3CD Hook!?

Well after much consederation I came to the following conclusion. Why did you have to make the poll so darned diffucult???
Seriously though here is my thoughts on the matter.
E.T. One of the most magical and glorious score that Williams has produced. This could easially be my vote.
Harry Potter. Due to the popularity of the score and film Harry Potter is also one of my favorite scores by Williams. Contrary to a certain members coments (CoughKenCough)
this remain one of Williams most magical scores. However there are other choices like...Hook. This is as magical as E.T. and is in my top three favorite Williams scores.
Raiders of the Lost Ark Not really magical but certainly Williams most kick butt score too date with probably his most meberable theme Raider is DEFINETLY an excellent choice for my vote.
Star Wars: A New Hope. Although not as good and any of the other Star Wars scores A New Hope does present us with and excellent score. However there are better scores out there so I'm going to have to hold of on Star Wars for now. And last but not least...
Superman. I must confess that I do not own a releas of the score to Superman however I have heard it in the film and it is darn good. However I'll hold off beacuase I don't have the score. So with much happines my vote goes to...
HOOK!!!
I love this score and it has remained one of my personel favorites for many years.
Ok I'm done now.

I've heard the damned score!
Either way, Empire of the Sun is probably my favorite Williams score, but I'd pick Raiders from the list.
Yes, you heard me...
RAIDERS.

SUPERMAN is the best from the group listed, though RADIERS is extremely close behind it.You know, I don't why people get so upset at these polls and what is or is not included. I guess if PeterK wanted to be complete he would give us the option to choose from all 100+ scores that Williams has composed, released officially or not. Now that would silly! He's just offering up a poll for us to choose from the SPECIFIC scores he listed. Is that so difficult to undertstand? Sorry if HOME ALONE is not included, maybe on a follow-up poll. Everyone just relax and choose which is your favorite from the five Williams masterpieces listed.

Of course, it would have been a lot easier if The Fury had been on the list.NP: Harry Potter - Excellent enough to have me playing it constantly since Friday, even though I got lots of other really great stuff in the meantime

In reality, I could really care less.

Raiders for me...and while I don't care that Potter is in the group it's not even worth comparing it with the others.

(John Zimmer said):
"E.T. One of the most magical and glorious score that Williams has produced."Sorry, JZ, you're absolutely wrong -
E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL is
THE Most Magical and Glorious Score John Williams has Ever produced.
Plus, it's Original, Simple, Intimate, Beautiful, Soaring, Flying, Adventurous, Gripping, Ominous, Scary, Elegant, Poignant, Enchanting, Grand, Colorful, Uplifting, and Simply Gorgeous.I truly hope that they will include on the next release also the marvelous Original MCA '82 "Album Version" tracks. Although the actual E.T. score is everything I mentioned, I have to say that it is this original '82 MCA album which truly takes you "Over the Moon".
