... that always blows you off your feet, everytime you hear it is...?

FATE HAPPENS/DEATH OF A MAD SON from Dead Again, by Patrick Doyle. This is such a great, operatic action cue, with choir, big orchestra. Just unbelievable stuff.

Arthur's Farewell from FIRST KNIGHT (also known as 'Never Surrender' which I think is a far better title) is one of Goldsmith's most kick ass tracks, thunderously pounding with full choir it's epic stuff indeed!

I'll leave it at that, I could list loads more but then it just becomes another boring list.

There's far too many to mention, but the first two that leapt into my head (for some completely bizarre reason, maybe to do with what I've been thinking about recently or something) were:

The Creation Scene - Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (Doyle). Furious, full on - woah!!

Death Dance - Alien3 - Elliot Goldenthal. Utterly insane, nasty. Pure Goldenthal magic.

If I started to think about this at all, then there'd be just a huge long list, which would get boring. So I won't. Oh, damn too late. How about Raisuli Attacks, or The Hunt, or Retreat, or....

    Better stop there methinks.

The one that always twists my gut...

...the stretch from Glory when they are marching onto the beach.

Or when the force theme kicks in when Vader tosses the Emperor in Return of the Jedi.

    Or...nevermind.

    Too many to name...

The only tracks to "blow me away" lately (since last summer actually) would be tracks 7 and 8 from Arnold's The Musketeer.

Full orchestral "knock you off your feet" glory music is just another day at the office for David Arnold Let's have a look-see:

    Independence Day End Credits
    Stargate Overature
    Battle at the Pyramid (Stargate)
    Going Home (Stargate)
    Fight Inn (The Musketeer)
    Wing Commander Theme
Faith and Courage (Last of the Dogmen)
Good in a Good Way (Last of the Dogmen)

...all of those are of course highly recommended

But here are some "honorable mentions":

Adagio and Transfiguration - Final Fantasy
    Breakout - Dinosaur
    The Egg Travels - Dinosaur
Overature - Much Ado About Nothing
The Burning Bush - Prince of Egypt
The Second Coming - Final Conflict
Sand Castles - The Mummy Returns
    Finale - Batman
King of Pride Rock - The Lion King
A Change of Heart - The Grinch
Main Title/Morgan's Ride - Cutthroat Island
    Ride the Dragon - Shrek
    Adventure on Earth - E.T.

...okay, so that's a pretty random list, but those are some of the best

    -Brendan

p.s. let me reiterate: if you don't
have Last of the Dogmen, find it and
    get it NOW!

Timmer, I actually like "Arthur's Farewell" because it's a misleading title. It sounds like it's going to be a "boring" cue from reading the title, so you mentally prepare yourself for that. And when it turns out to be this HUGE choral cue, it's that much more of a ballgrabber!

-There's a track in Courage Under Fire towards the end when the real story is finally being told and everything goes to slow motion and the strings get really low and loud and it's very dramatic. To bad it wasn't released.

Well, there's clearly "Across the Desert" and ESPECIALLY "Meeting The Herd" from JNH's Dinosaur.
There are also things like "Escape To India" from Glass' Kundun and "The Road To Masada" from Goldsmith's Masada.
A few others that come to mind, Yoko Kanno stuff because I've been listening to it lately; Moon, from Yoko Kanno's Turn A Gundam. Also Chain, from Yoko Kanno and Hajime Mizoguchi's Escaflowne, and Black Escaflowne, from their score for the movie. ELM and Green Bird from Kanno's Cowboy Bebop scores.
I could always come up with more...

One?! I can't narrow it down to one!

Wind and the Lion - "Main Title"
    Night Crossing - "Main Title"
Tess - "Tess" (the first track )
Good, Bad, Ugly - "Ecstacy of Gold"
Airport - "Main Title" -- Are there any other recordings of this besides the album and what Gerhardt did? The album version seems to suffer from a tempo problem in places and Gerhardt... well, he didn't exactly get it right, either.
Star Wars - "Main Title" (duh)
    Sodom and Gomorrah - "Overture"

I have to agree with Al's suggestion of "Where?" from Mission to Mars, which is another great piece of music.

John Dunham brought up "Road to Masada" and I'll have to second that one as well.

This isn't exactly a soundtrack, but it definately makes gets me going. I'm surprised that it hasn't been mentioned here, yet. It's POMPEII by E.S. Posthumus. Listening to it makes me want to run around the house like crazy (or like spiderman ).

My alltime favorite cue that makes me feel this way has been mentioned a couple times, the end credits from The Empire Strikes Back.

Superman The Movie: Helicopter sequence, Clark rips open his shirt for the first time and BAM!!! There's one of the greatest themes of all time triumphantly played. VERY close to being matched when he actually catches the chopper. Man...EVERYTIME, I get chills.

Raiders of the Lost Arl: Indy swims to the other sub.

Batman Returns: The batsignal is activated and Bruce, sitting alone in the dark in a huge room sees it and stands up.

Star Wars: Oh man...there are many.
Trench Run: "Use the Force, Luke!"
Wampa Cave, using the force to get the saber
Finale of ESB: Luke hanging onto the antennae...probably THE most beautiful moment of William's history, IMO
Vader tosses the Emperor down the core.

"Dawning" from SHACKLETON'S ANTARCTIC ADVENTURE (Sam Cardon)
"Montana" from THE HORSE WHISPERER (Thomas Newman)
"Theme de Camille" from CONTEMPT (Les Mepris)... and CASINO(Delerue)
"Throw the Coins" from SENSE AND SENSIBILITY (Doyle)

"Arrival at the Palace" from ANNA AND THE KING (Fenton)
THE GHOST AND MRS MUIR (Herrmann) Track No 9 from the 20th Century Fox MUSIC FROM THE GOLDEN AGE compilation.

I'm a fairly recent "convert" to film music and I'm sure that most of my choices reflect this but I am gradually working my way back, so to those of you who are shocked at the absence of earlier composers...I'm working on it and would appreciate any suggestions that people would care to give me from the dead guys!
