    I'm almost sure I've posted on this in the past, but I feel the urge to do so again...

    Who here loves this score as much as I do? Man, from the main theme to the furiously executed action cues, it's hands down one of Jerry's best (of course, he has a lot of those IMO). I even dig the disco version of the theme, which really kicks if you're in the right mood. Of course, this is comin' from the guy who loves the Coma disco stuff and even Bill Conti's "For Your Eyes Only"...

    Anyone who hasn't checked this out should definitely do so. You're definitely in for a treat if you enjoy Goldsmith's ability to effectively incorporate and build on good thematic material.

    Ditto.

    Great theme, (even in the disco version) and the rhythmic action material at the climax is relentless.

    It doesn't get as much play time as other Goldsmith albums, but it's still a fine score worth visiting now and then.

    I love this score too but my original copy of the cd is ruined because of "bronzing"... so I can not play it anymore!! If your copies are still intact I suggest burning back ups...

    I always felt that Joe Harnell must have been familiar with 'Cassandra', his Incredible Hulk end title theme bears a striking resemblance to Goldsmith's piano based love theme!

    I've been considering investing in this one, but I've been put off by this bronzing malarkey. Is there anywhere I can get one that isn't going to suffer this?

    Oh, and I like For Your Eyes Only as well.

    I bought this from Screen Archives in May 2001 and so far so good when it comes to bronzing.

    I sought this score for many a moon and finally discovered in the Tower Records here in Chicago. What's funny is sometimes I will go awhile without listening to it and then once I put it on, I remember why it's one of my favorite Goldsmith scores. The action cues are bristling with energy, "It's All A Game" is a great theme and a nice slice of 70's instrumental pop and as always, the use electronics is reviting. I love the one reverberating sound he uses here which seems like he is banging some huge metal conduit. His 70's scores are the coolest of the cool and the baddest of the bad!

    Picked up this score at the bagain bin at Media Play, of all places- 5.99!. Its a groovy score, and the end titles are cool I wish Goldsmith did more fun stuff like this...most of his recent scores don't sound like he has much fun writing them....

    It's often said that Goldsmith scores his films as if he's scoring the ideal realization of the movie rather than the one that actually got made. I had Night Crossing at least a year before I finally saw the movie and having visualized so much based on the soundtrack alone I was really let down when I finally saw the flick. Not that the movie's that bad but more a case of Goldsmith's music being that good.

    'The Cassandra Crossing' is an excellent Goldsmith score and sadly underrated.

    It would always be in my top ten Goldsmith scores.

    Yes indeed, absolutely tremendous Goldsmith score. Those action cues are amongst the most ferociously inventive he has ever written - and that's saying something. Say what you like about poor old George P. Comatose's films, but he certainly allowed the scores room to breathe. Remember that opening "Hospital Chase"? Virtually no sound effects, just the spellbinding music.

    And, Timmer, maybe Joe Harnell DID (inadvertantly) borrow from the Main Theme. So did Laurence Rosenthal in BRASS TARGET. Well, maybe not, but I always thought they were quite similar, not that I'm making a big deal about it!

    Absolutely superb score. I have always liked the off beat timing in some of the cues. And the action cues are fantastic. Have always liked this one as I did most all of his scores in those years. Great period/stretch of work in late 70s and early 80s. One of best stretches in film music history for variety and quality of scores.

    I really like the score a lot. So the film again on Sunday on TV, reminded me just how great the action music is. I love the way it opens - just after the main titles, they enter the medical place, pull out the gun & bam! Goldsmith's right there straight away. Woosh! Bam! Kasop! OK, I'll stop that now.

    Anyway, I don't have the CD yet, & was wondering how much music there was on it. This is one I'd really love to have in my collection, & Amazon UK have it in for about £12 or something.
    What's the disc like?

    The disc is 35 minutes long, which includes a three minute "pop" arrangement of the theme and a 2.5 minute crappy song. Eleven tracks all together.

    The packaging and disc state that it's performed by the "original cast" -- whatever the hell that means.

    Hmmm, so there's quite a lot missing, then? I seem to remember there being a lot of score in the film. What's the balance between the action & "love" music like? How's sound quality?

    I guess I'll probably pick it up anyway. It's probably not too likely to get an expanded release any time soon. Unless FSM or someone similar can get hold of it. Anyone know what the likelihood of a remastered/complete issue is?

    I just picked up Artisan's new dvd of this and it's full screen. I could have sworn that this was available widescreen previously. Can anyone confirm this?

    I don't know how much music is missing, since I've never seen the film. Sound quality seems quite typical for a 1970s recording from Rome. It's quite clean and crisp, very dry (no/little reverb), and close-miked.

    My copy is widescreen, 1.85:1, but I believe that even this is cropped. Should be 2.35:1.

    Now why would they reissue this full screen? What the hell is going on over there... I'm still mystified that they released Extreme Prejudice on dvd in full screen even though a widescreen transfer was done for laserdisc.

    Ok, I was able to pick up a copy of the 1.85:1 widescreen dvd at DVDPlanet tonight so I'm happy. The print used is not in the best shape but it's better than nothing, I suppose. Any way you slice it, this is a terribly, terribly funny movie. Any significant moments in the film exist because of Jerry's score. If you guys are looking for a fun movie to heckle, this is IT.
