Ok after Varese's rather abrupt cancellation of this CD which was originally supposed to be released tomorrow, is there any word of a release for this score by Trevor Jones ?posted 04-29-2002 08:27 PM PT (US)

For whatever it's worth, cdnow.com is showing an "expected release date" of October 19.

I checked iclassics.com, they have a listing for it at their soundtracks section- but they still list it as a Varese release- I don't think that's much help to you, but they may update it later[Message edited by Widescreen on 04-30-2002]

<emoticon for curious Mike>How is that you are playing the music for Dinotopia when the album hasn't been released?

I read the book, too. In this version, they got rid of the father and have instead changed the lead characters to two young brothers. Why? So that they can make the whole thing about a love triangle between them and the girl they meet at the hatchery. Confound Hollywood!Grrrr...
The score will be nothing short of spectacular, I'm sure.

Anyone else notice how Bri didn't sign off as "The Seeker" when he couldn't find out the info?
lol.
Brian, you seem to have an identity crisis! Either you're "The Seeker", or you're not. It's not a "depending on the info" thing.

I just found this today for 4.99 - a promo, apparently. I haven't even opened it yet. I hated the miniseries (the few minutes i saw of it), but it's cool that Trevor's doing the music for this. Any thoughts?

Should the Disney Records release never come to fruition, or in case it doesn't have the same contents as the CMR version, you can purchase it for $17.95 plus shipping using mail order from the Dinotopia site:
http://www.dinotopia.com/store06a.html
Note that it is MAIL ORDER ONLY using check or money order, no online or credit card sales.Hope this helps some people.

This looks to be the exact same as the CMR release. This is a great deal for those who missed it. I sold several copies on e-Bay at a much higher price.
I have serious doubts about a Disney release of the score, so I'd recommend buying it from the web site while you can. It's a wonderful CD.
James
P.S. Strange that Geoffrey Alexander got an Emmy nom for his musical direction while Trevor Jones' score was ignored.

Is this CD ever coming out in stores or is the Dinotopia web site the only place we can order?--Brian

Happy to report that the Dinotopia store came through as promised -- the CMR cd arrived today and I'm listening to it now. Good stuff! This certainly deserves a broader commercial release.posted 09-21-2002 08:39 AM PT (US)

You guys don't know how difficult it is to obtain things from shops that don't take cards, (when you're not living in the US, that is)...Seems like I have to get a bankers draft, and the bank will send it seperate to my order form, something about being due to September 11th ?...
It also seems that the British Post Office will only issue Postal orders in Pounds Sterling, and the Dinotopia Store only wants things in U.S. Dollars...
I've been to three banks already and I've only got as far as being given a form to fill in !!!!!.....
I hope its worth it....
Also does anyone know why Trevor Jones has his own label, with two titles on it already, but he has no website, and although I got the Cleopatra issue, almost no-one stocks them. (I've not seen Cleopatra since I bought mine).

Well I got 5 other friends to commit to a purchase, to spread the postage and other charges, and they came through today (just under 2 weeks since sending the bankers draft)...and it was worth the wait... a veritable tour-de-force by Trevor. The cues are mostly from the first half of the mini-series, so all I want now is a "Dinotopia, Volume 2" ???.
Well it can't hurt to hope, can it ?.
