Two-time Academy Award®-winner James Horner (Titanic) has captured the excitement of director John Woo’s new World War II action drama Windtalkers in his musical score, featured on the film’s original soundtrack recording from RCA Victor, to be released on Tuesday, May 21, 2002. From the director of Face/Off and Mission Impossible 2, the film was produced by Woo, Terence Chang, Tracie Graham, and Alison Rosenzweig, and stars Oscar®-winner Nicolas Cage, Adam Beach, Peter Stormare, Noah Emmerich, Mark Ruffalo, Brian Van Holt, Martin Henderson, Roger Willie, Francis O’Connor, and Christian Slater. Windtalkers was written by John Rice and Joe Batteer and opens nationwide on Friday, June 14, 2002.

Windtalkers is set in the Pacific during World War II and follows Marine Joe Enders (Nicolas Cage), who is assigned to protect Ben Yahzee (Adam Beach) – a Navajo code talker, the Marines’ new secret weapon. Enders’ orders are to protect his code talker, but if Yahzee should fall into enemy hands, he’s to “protect the code at all costs.” Against the backdrop of the horrific Battle of Saipan, when capture is imminent, Enders is forced to make a decision: if he can’t protect his fellow Marine, how far will he go to protect the code? The Navajo code was the only one never broken by the Japanese, and is considered to have been key in winning the war.

Known for his stylistic diversity, composer James Horner captures all the suspense in Windtalkers with his lush, haunting score. Most recently nominated for his score for the Oscar®-winning A Beautiful Mind, Horner was honored in 1998 for his score for Titanic with two Academy Awards® and two Golden Globes for Best Original Score and Best Original Song (“My Heart Will Go On”).

In addition to his recognition for Titanic, James Horner has earned five additional Academy Award® nominations and four additional Golden Globe nominations. He has won six Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year in 1987 for “Somewhere Out There” (from the Steven Spielberg film An American Tail) and in 1998 for “My Heart Will Go On.” In April of 1998, Horner’s Titanic soundtrack album completed an unprecedented run of 16 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart, setting a new record for the most consecutive weeks at #1 for a score album. It remains the largest selling instrumental score album in history, having sold nearly 10 million copies in the US and more than 26 million copies worldwide.

Horner’s other credits include several films with Oscar®-winning director Ron Howard, including Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Ransom, Cocoon, Willow and Apollo 13. Among Horner’s more than three-dozen other film scores are Braveheart, The Perfect Storm, The Mask of Zorro, The Pelican Brief, Field of Dreams and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.

It sucked.. didn't seem to fit all the slow motion, thousands of bullets, and corny dialog. Plus, I heard Willow once again.

IF you read these posts Horner... comon' man... Please... Ditch Willow!

The movie isn't even worth paying $8 in theatres. Wait for video, or a handme down freebie.
