Magic.
More than anything else, motion pictures are always about magic. No matter what the movie's about, the existence of magic on it can never be denied - this magic, a simple reflection of light upon a blank canvas. But to employ all the magic on the blank canvas - to enhance it, to take it to another level of wonder - needs a most sincere heart. Composers like Goldsmith, Williams, Broughton, Silvestri and Debney have all put their hearts into their work and thus helped us, the audience, to experience the motion picture magic to the fullest. They are just a handful of the true wizards, true masters of their craft, bringing the heart of the childlike magic to the motion picture experience.
I, personally, have found yet another most sincere heart in creating wonderful music. And not only for motion pictures, but for nearly every possible entertainment media. The most incredible thing is that for whatever Mr. STEVE BRAMSON composes his music, the end result is always as magnificently crafted as if for a major motion picture - with specific timings, great understanding for orchestration, and especially the supportive quality of the music. Mr. Bramson is truly the quintessential film composer even when he's not composing for movies - he has a high dramatic understanding for telling a story and supporting an atmosphere with his music.
Mr. Steve Bramson is also a very orchestral composer. Since he has served as an orchestrator for various big Hollywood scores, he has become an expert in using a large orchestra to unleash the heart of the music itself.
Mr. Bramson definitely unleashed a glorious symphony orchestra on his own composition for Disneyland Paris' SPACE MOUNTAIN attraction. As the very best version of this famous Disney thrill ride, the Disneyland Paris version is a dizzying roller-coaster ride across the darkest space with twists and loops, loaded with stars, meteors, and other gorgeous special effects. The most amazing aspect, however, is Mr. Bramson's music score which, with specific timings supports every twist and loop. The ride's highlight features an ascent towards the smiling moon - which is beautifully expressed with Mr. Bramson's lush strings - and then suddenly, as if our vehicle doesn't have power enough, we end up for a furious plunge downwards - and the entire sequence magnificently supported by the exciting music. If John Williams did change movie music history by his score to STAR WARS by getting a new audience to pay attention to movie music, then it can be easily said that Steve Bramson did the very same thing by changing theme park music history with his score to SPACE MOUNTAIN - it's simply unbelievable how many Disneyland Paris visitors MENTION and REMEMBER the music for SPACE MOUNTAIN. (Thus, it's a real pity that the ride's actual soundtrack is yet unreleased).
For more than a decade, Mr. Steve Bramson has been active in composing music for both television and motion pictures. For the highly-acclaimed television series "JAG" Mr. Bramson has composed and conducted over 150 orchestral scores. This CBS drama is about crimes in the military, and the officers trained as lawyers who investigate, prosecute and defend the accused. Mr. Bramson's original music supports all the drama and excitement of the series - the action sequences include some of his finest pages in melodic "orchestral turbulence" - but these scores as well have their lighter moments of comedy and romance. Mr. Bramson's awards include an Emmy nomination this year for Dramatic Underscore for JAG episode "Adrift".
Mr. Bramson's versatile work for television includes Steven Spielberg's TINY TOON ADVENTURES (for which Mr. Bramson won an Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Music Composition in 1993) and FISH POLICE, DIAGNOSIS MURDER, YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES: TREASURE OF THE PEACOCK'S EYE, and TV-movies like LOVE CAN BE MURDER. His scores for independent motion pictures include CASUALTIES and THE CRUDE OASIS. Mr. Bramson's classical compositions and arrangements - more intimate chamber works and full orchestral works - have been performed from London to New York. Currently Mr. Bramson is expanding his horizons with a musical called SHIMMY.
Versatility, indeed.
But as a person, who has been privileged to find so much marvelous music by Mr. Steve Bramson, I can honestly say that his music has a big heart within. Mr. Bramson has a sincere heart in all of his music, employing all the magic on the blank canvas - whether it be a giant theme park, a ride, a concert hall, a television screen, or the big silver screen. Mr. Bramson can easily enhance an atmosphere to its maximum impact and truly to take an experience to another level of wonder. This is what makes a master of motion picture composition. As I said - more than anything else, motion pictures are about magic.
And if there is a person as talented as Mr. Steve Bramson - who is able to enhance this magic, this simple reflection of light upon a blank canvas - I highly recommend him for even bigger movie projects.
Because he really is the quintessential motion picture composer.*****AN IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE WRITER*****
In its original version this text included FALSE INFORMATION about the music used at the ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE theme park. Mr. Steve Bramson IS NOT the composer of any of the music used at the ISLANDS theme park.
I'm sincerely sorry for believing the opposite and thus causing inconvenience for Mr. Bramson, his fans, and also for the park itself. I deeply apologize.Sincerely,
KENNETH SUNDBERG

And, as with press releases usually
also this one included FALSE INFORMATION. I have edited the incorrect section away from the text, and once more I apologize deeply for the inconvenience I have caused to Mr. Bramson and everybody else.(There is some sort of bootleg flowing around out there of the music of ISLANDS OF ADVENTURE, and this bootleg claims the music has been composed by Steve Bramson. Well, IT IS NOT !!!)
Sincerely sorry,

Never heard Bramson's work on J*A*G, but I love his animation scoring, specifically an episode of "Tiny Toons" ("The Horror of Slumber Party Mountain") and the DTV movie "Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island". I look forward to the website.

Just a moment ago I got the surprising info that the ISLAND OF ADVENTURE have indeed RELEASED an album of the park's original music (- although on my recent visit at the park there was none such CDs anywhere). So, I'm trying to solve once 'n' for all whose music I have previously thought to be Bramson's.
- By the way, if anyone out there has this specific ISLANDS commercial album release, PLEASE let us know what the contents - and who the composers - are !! Thank you.Further bulletins as events unfold.
KENPS. JJH obviously doesn't know that such things as courtesy and sincerity DO exist on this planet
- although in quite a few people.posted 09-25-2002 10:21 AM PT (US)

I have this Islands Of Adventure disc from the park around here somewhere and I'm almost 100% sure that Steve Bramson is the sole composer credited for the music.NP: The dulcet tones of Mike digging through his collection to find this disc.

A further part of the mystery is solved.
There has been TWO OFFICIAL RELEASES of the ISLANDS music. Click on the link to see both of them:
http://www.ioacentral.com/park_information/music/music.htmBut alas, the info at the link doesn't include composer credits. Further bulletins follow soon.
I was just beginning to think the fact that it's a small world after all - naturally it COULD be one possibility that in a country as big as the USA there surely is several Steve Bramsons (BUT JUST ONE AUTHENTIC!!!!)
- and by just a coincidence, there COULD be another composer among them, thus leading in such a mix-up... Another thing is the way especially Disney Records include the composer info into their releases - composers are most always mentioned only by their last names, which just leads enthusiastic collectors making hasty conclusions - - (I believe many of us have in some point purchased one of the guitarist John Williams' albums because of the name on their covers...) - - But, this Disney Records' "credits procedure" is simply annoying because of its high-hand quality - composers who deserve credit are only mentioned by their last names, arrangers and adapters are almost NEVER included, and then guys who write a few new lyrics for things like the new (stupid) TIKI ROOM are given credit by their FULL name...So, these are some of the situations where mix-ups are initiated. The Disney Company has taken a step out from its dark ages when the composers (and vocalists) were never credited anywhere, but STILL there lives a too big "legacy" of these dark ages in their way of not giving credit where credit is due. I remember it myself when there were stubborn rumours about the Disneyland Paris SPACE MOUNTAIN music being composed by John Debney - and I just recently got the info that the same thing was claimed even at an official Disney website. It is truly embarrassing, but most of all it reveals a great deal about what is considered as "important" at the (too big) Disney nowadays.
I will return with further bulletins.
Thanks to Mr. Jim Ganz for the GREAT help
and warmest thanks to Mr. Steve Bramson himself.

Dan,
That cough has, in my opinion, a most perfect timing - Steve Bramson surely continues the legacy of Jerry Goldsmith with that cough ("If you need to cough, do it with the melody", as Goldsmith reminded the audience at Oulu Film Festival in Finland, 1993)

Ken, I didn't see anybody actually credited with composing the music on this disc, which is odd. Although each track appears to be written by someone different... When I get home, I'll post some of the names on there.
