There was a great article in the Daily Variety yesterday about Don Davis. But what's cool is that he has composed all the music for the next 2 films (of course), the Matrix game, and the Animatrix episodes. In all, Davis stated he has recorded 7 hours worth of original (orchestral) Matrix music. HOW COOL IS THAT!!

music From the Movies website has an early review of the Matrix reloaded xcore.

I'd say it's a bit on the Varese side of grandstanding for a score.

but then again, the original Matrix score was so damn good. :-)

Yes, the RELOADED score is QUITE good. I am, however, waiting for the Maverick Release before commenting, since I don't wanna get all your hopes up about any tracks that DON'T make it on the album.

That article over at www.musicfromthemovies.com is really mouth-watering stuff. You'd think it was written by the record label, not an independent reviewer.

    I am now officially hyped.

Speak not so fast. Hell could freeze fairly quickly if we drop a bus load of economists in it. Those cold hearted utilitarian bastards would say that the fires of hell are a waste of resources as they burn but produce nothing (other than global warming perhaps ).

uh huh... the first had no choir.
I guess MikaC means the choir is heard more often in this second instalment.

I'm guessing you must live near the University of Chicago?

Well, since the choir in the first film didn't really show up until the end of the film (when Neo is "the one"), it makes sense that it shows up a little more prominently in the second film.

That being said, in the MFTM review, Mikael discusses the 10-minute long action cue (which I'm convinced is for the car chase). At one point in that track, the chorus comes in with a moment that SCREAMS of the Main Titles from the score to the computer game "Hitman". It's still uber-cool.

Anyone know if Don Davis' music for the Final Flight of the Osiris will be on the Animatrix CD release due on the 3rd of June?

The choir shows up earlier then the finale in THE MATRIX. I believe it first appears when Neo is awakened and flops around in that "afterbirth" goo, and the cameara pulls back to reveal the "harvest".

Mmm, from memory that would seem to be the first real grand introduction of choir in the score for the first film. 'The Power Plant' cue on the CD release.

In fact about three or more cues on the CD feature choir work but indeed nothing as expansive as we're being lead to believe is put to use in the sequel.

Well... there's more choir, there's even some lyrical stuff, too. But it's not a choir-heavy score.

My guess is that the 10 min piece is called "Mona Lisa Overdrive" Juno Reactor.
