Assuming this movie gets made, what do you guys (and girls) think about the scoring.
    Here's my take:
Two composers, Marco Beltrami and Brian Tyler, together. Both are young and have great potential. It would sort of be a face off of the music, sort of like on Matrix:Reloaded CD2 track "Burly Brawl"-Juno Reactor vs. Don Davis. We could have the same thing here: Marco Beltrami vs. Brian Tyler.
Beltrami seems connected to the frantic action and horror aspect of score so he'd be a great choice for the Alien side. Needs to be full of strings and percussion, no brass, sort of like "Blade II". Brian Tyler (bless him AMAZING!) could handle the Predator themes and would do a fantastic job. Before you give him any thought, listen to "Children of Dune" and "The Hunted". The former is a MASTERPIECE!
I'd be really excited if these two did (in 100 years when the f%*king film is made) the score. It would be a clash of cues!
    Please offer your incite.

That would be a great listen, but I doubt composers with different representation who have no association with eachother, would ever work together.

Of course, Hans Z and Klaus B are apparently always available... Oy.

I think James Cameron recently said that he'd consider making another Alien movie if the Aliens vs. Predator idea was permanently shelved. At any rate Sigourney Weaver will never do this idea and a major star will have to be attached to this project to get it launched--neither "franchise" has the pull on its own to get a major production launched.

Frankly there does not need to be any more sequels involving Alien or Predator. Alien has already been run into the ground with 3 & 4 and luckily Fox stopped after Predator 2.

The movie IS happening. It's in pre-production. They're trying to get an October start date.

Oh come on! I have been waiting for another Predator movie for years! Predator is the coolest alien/monster ever! Predator 2 while not a good a Predator 1 ended with a great possible prelude to a Predator 3.

I'm not sure how Aliens Vs. Predator would work as a movie (the video games are boring), but I was thinking that a combonation of Predator and Die Hard would be really cool, Cause it would have Bruce Willis as Mclane running around with two guns yelling! But seriously Willis could be a good lead character.
Heck why not bring back Schwarzenegger in the same role as Dutch from Prefdator 1?

As for who could score it. Well Alan Silvestri of coarse!

For me there's only a choice:

    PREDATOR=SILVESTRI

Breaking this "partnership",it's like having Starwars scored by someone else than John Williams.....

    NP-Highlander ****/***** Michael Kamen

I read the plot synopsis of this thing and it sounds like a terrible idea. Judging from what they've got so far it doesn't matter who'll score it.

No, no. I mean ALIEN VS. PREDATOR! Not PREDATOR 3! Now that I think of it, Silvestri doing his Predator theme and he teams up with Elliot Goldenthal for his f#@king awesome ALIEN 3 shizznit. Holy sh!t! How great and album would that be! Silvestri's percussion PREDATOR and Goldenthal's metal/odd/weird score for ALIEN 3! Bravo!!!!!Brav-f#@king-O!!!!!

I wouldn't pick any of the composers listed in the initial post.

For a movie like this, I'd like one from the following roster:

    Alan Silvestri
    John Frizzell
    Elliot Goldenthal
    Possibly Elfman
Joel McNeely (if the movie will be based on the books)
or... Jerry Goldsmith (Hey, he scored the trailer for Judge Dredd and the man can certainly do scifi!)

Sebulba is right--the film is slated to begin production in October. It is being directed by Paul Anderson, the guy who did Event Horizon and Resident Evil. While not the best director in the world, I think his past films have the right look and feel for this subject matter.

The plot has something to do with the infamous Weylan-Yutani company wanting to hunt Predators in Antarctica, luring them there with Alien eggs. The expedition obviously gets caught in the middle. Hmmm...

Yes, based on the music for Judge Dredd trailer, I think we can safely deem Jerry Goldsmith qualified to do a science fiction action movie. And also about two dozen other actual scores in the same genre!

Then they may as well just skip to the chase and make it Alien vs Predator vs Pinhead vs Cenobytes vs (insert favorite Gothy poser here). I predict a run on flat black paint in the immediate vicinity of the production.

Actually, I pity the poor fellow hired for scoring this and that other WFW (World Film Wrestling) marketing ploy, Freddy vs. Jason.

Haha, yes, I failed to mention the ST albums and others because I don't see the stylings being anything comparable to Aliens vs. Predator. The ST scores are beautifully done--except for Insurrection, but that's a completely different universe and provides a more intellectual mood. Goldsmith has the Aliens pegged since '79, but I've always been a fan of the predators; the books have done a great job of expounding on their nobility et al and if they will be doing the Antarctica hunt, exceptional music will be needed to bring out the cultural nuances of the species. I specifically mentioned Judge Dredd because it has the bombastic tones and grand-sweeping quality that might capture the Predator essence.

TimT, have you played the Aliens VS. Predator arcade many years ago? They had Dutch in there as well.

Good job, Quill. Hell yeah; now somebody's thinking on my terms! I forgot all about Edward's fabulous scores for REIGN OF FIRE and COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO. However, the fact that Paul W(orst) S(h!t) Anderson is directing them made me vomit the COLLATERAL DAMAGE score. Why not just end the world! I HATE Paul WS Anderson. WHO'S WITH ME?!

Curiosity bit the cat earlier this morning as I began to search through the database for some of my original posts.

Here it is; my first thread.

I had been lurking around here for a few years (maybe the beginning?) before this and I thought that this post was older than four years. I had no clue what I was thinking in a userer name like "raven420"; granted, my birthday is April 20th (no joke) but I have no idea where the "raven" came from. Perhaps I was a enthusiastic Poe fan all of those years ago.

What's strange even, is that four years later we've already had to stomach one awful Alien vs. Predator movie with an even worse Harold Kloser score (I even vomit Revell's Collateral Damage score when I think of that one) and now we're coming upon the release of the sequel with a score by - isn't it a miracle - BRIAN TYLER!

I'm truly a prophet of modern day.

My next prediction: Paul Haggis will win another Oscar and so will Gustavo Santaloalla.

Funny story, I was actually shooting for Score_Nut but I believe it was already taken; so I decided to go against the grain and be unusual.

Actually, Nuts is a newer account under an old email address. I create my current persona like two or three years ago after I had abandoned the old one for a year.
