im looking for a song, not specific. just a few songs that sound pretty intense, and emotional, without sounding happy or cheesy. preferably no words. these types of songs are usually found on soundtracks so if anyone has any suggestions, let me know. thanks.

You just named about 1,000 soundtracks What kind of music are you looking for? Techno sounding, orchestrated, relaxed? Elaborate a bit more and I'm sure we can help you out here.

okay, you know the theme song from risky business? its called like love on a real train by tangerine dream i think, something kinda like that. something that starts out slow, and gets more intense as it progresses. just something that sounds captivating, and emotional, even dark sounding, as long as its not happy, life is great type music. i am not opposed to any specific genres. it can be techno or rock or strings anything.

You should try the song Legends by Tangerine Dream since you like their style. Probably right what you're looking for.

From what you say I think the above recommendation of 'Journey To The Line' by Zimmer would be a great choice!

Another good choice would be the track 'The Shawshank Redemption' by Thomas Newman from the film of the same name.

Yes, sometimes people listen to songs.... and other times, they just confuse songs and score. No biggy though... unless you're a major collector... then it's a huge no-no.

Don't even pay attention...some of the people here are diehard movie score collectors so they hardly if ever listen to music with lyrics or "songs" as we like to call them. I don't think you pissed him off, hopefully just a joke since it's rare to talk about songs here, but keep asking away...hopefully someone can help you

whoa, theres people who only listen to movie music?? people who ONLY like music with no words? i mean dont get me wrong, some of the greatest pieces of all time have no words but i think its kinda silly to limit yourself like that...just out of curiosity for the people who collect soundtracks, do you just collect soundtracks from every movie, or certain composers for movies, or just ones that you like or what? sorry i never heard of this. very interesting...

Oh definitely!!! For instance, the music in Lord of the Rings. Fantastic orchestral tracks on those CD's. No songs except for the tracks for the credits. When you hear us talk about "scores" we're talking about the actual "music" in the movie. When you hear us talking about a "soundtrack album" we're talking about a song. Usually CD's that are "Music from and inspired by..." contain the songs from the movies. But "Original Motion Picture Score" is the orchestra stuff. I personally enjoy both, but more so the scores.

Many film music lovers do listen only to orchestral film music, while others like to listen other music genres as well; but listening only to orchestral music or music without words can be very enjoyable, and I don't think that's silly if you really enjoy it. I don't think that the important thing is to have a wide music taste, but to feel passionate for the music you listen to.

Well, if you are looking for an "intense" sound, with a song-like musical elements (which I could interpret as "pop-isms") and preferably without words, I strongly recommend you to check Craig Armstrong's "Escape" (more song-like than "hanging" which has the same chordal progression, but a different instrumentation and rhythm) from "Plunket and McLeane" soundtrack.

I also strongly recommend you to check E.S. Posthumus Unearthed CD. Almost all of the tracks there have that emotional music you might be looking for.
Check this website where you can download some of the songs from the CD.
    http://esposthumus.com/downloads.html

Pay special attention to "Pompeii". It has a powerful, intense sound, with rich and modern instrumentation and arrangement, not necessarily happy, and without words (although it has a strong choral arrangement).

    Good luck!

    Rach

You mean the song from the end credits? That's not on the soundtrack I don't think but it's on some other CD by the artist.

That's bad, but more often, the contrary happens, and that's even worse: In many cases, the "soundtrack" CD contains the songs used in, but not written for, the movie, which are already available elsewhere (on the albums for which they were originally written), but do NOT contain, or contain only very little of, the music that was actually written FOR the movie and is therefore not available in any other way. In case of the increasingly popular "music from and inspired by" albums, you typically have some previously available songs used in the movie, plus lots of songs totally unrelated to the movie, and if you're interested in the actual music written for the movie, you can be happy if some other record label (like Varese Sarabande) can afford to release a small portion of that music later on.

I believe the Pixies song you're looking for is available on one of their albums.

The Pixies song is off of their "Surfer Rose" CD. Glad they are back together.... I am ready for some new Pixies music! Hopefully they "ain't" just getting back together to sing old songs.
