John Debney: The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement / Christmas With the Kranks / The Pacifier / Chicken LittleYou'd think the success of the Passion soundtrack would have done something to his "light comedy" stereotype.
quote:
Anne Dudley: Tristan & IsoldeReally?? Wow, that's awesome!
quote:
Danny Elfman: The Corpse BrideYes!!!
quote:
Philip Glass: UndertowI read about this on Glass's web site. Very interesting having Glass score a family drama set in rural Georgia. I adored David Gordon Green's previous film, All the Real Girls. Not the type of thing you'd expect Glass to be associated with...which makes it great news!
quote:
Dario Marianelli: Brothers GrimmI'm very curious, as I've said elsewhere.
quote:
Mark Mothersbaugh: The Life AquaticThis ought to be good. Mothersbaugh's Wes Anderson scores get better with each film.
quote:
Michael Nyman: The Libertine / The Assassination of Richard Nixon / Therese RaquinI can never get enough Nyman.

quote:
Trevor Rabin: Exorcist: The BeginningGrrrrr........

Did you hear the recent score to the French film 24 Hours in the Life of a Woman by Nyman? I found it impossible to get into, and I like a lot of his work.

Klaus Badelt:
Curious George.Could be interesting.
Christophe Beck:
A Cinderella Story / Little Black Book / Without a Paddle / Taxi / The Pink Panther. All sound nice, espcially The Pink Panther. His score for that movie may be the only saving grace.
Terence Blanchard:
Blade: TrinityWell, never been a fan of any of the Blade scores, but a fresh composer who I have never heard of before might yeild something different.
Jon Brion: I Heart Huckabee’s. Who?
Sean Callery:
Nine LivesOh and another Buffy composer gets a movie. Maybe one day they will all be famous. Even Wanker!
George S. Clinton:
Glory DaysI have no idea what this movie is about, but maybe it will be good. the score that is.
John Debney:
Christmas With the KranksSaw the trailer before Spider-Man 2 today. This should be interesting, but is Debney becoming type cast with Christmas movies? ;-)
Alexandre Desplat: Birth / Hostage / The Upside of Anger.
Who?
Danny Elfman: The Corpse Bride / Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
I am always willing to give Elfman a chance. He always does 50/50 for me.
James Horner:
The ForgottenThe title just screams "dark and mysterious thriller" don't it?
James Newton Howard:
The Village
CollateralOh, what an exciting year for J.N.H. fans.
Harald Kloser:
Alien vs PredatorHopefully Kloser and Wanker will prove more instantly likable here. And do the known aliens justice music wise. And hopefully recall some of Silvestri's Predator stuff. :-)
Joseph LoDuca:
BoogeymanFinally!!! Where the hell has this guy been hiding? Crappy cartoon remakes are no place for a man of his talent.
Mark McKenzie:
BlizzardThis might be interesting.
Alan Menken:
NoelIs this another crappy disney thing? When will he break free and provide us with the wonderful scoires we know he can do???
David Newman: Cheer Up / Are We There Yet? / Kicking & Screaming.
Normally I am a fan of his, but none of these look appealing.
Julian Nott:
The Wallace and Gromit Movie: Curse of the WererabbitCool! Am I the only fan of both his music and the W&G shorts?
Michael Nyman:
The Assassination of Richard NixonGreat. The man who says films scores are too overpowering gets this movie? What a huge let down.
Lalo Schifrin:
The Bridge of San Luis ReyI have no idea what this is. Can I assume it is not some romatic spew and a chance for some War time action music?
Marc Shaiman:
Team AmericaSounds corny. Could be an interesting score.
Theodore Shapiro:
The BaxterI have read such good things about his Startsky and Hutch movie score. Being a fan of 70s music, I am almost tempted to rent the movie to hear the score. Since I don't know of any promo for it.
Edward Shearmur:
Sky Captain and the World of TomorrowWhat a strange looking movie. Might be what draws me into being a Shearmur fan.
Alan Silvestri:
Polar ExpressOh, another winter time movie. But I can't wait to hear Silvestri do his magic.
Vangelis:
AlexanderI have heard only 3 movie he has scored and only like 1492, but this one has got me giddy.
James L. Venable:
The Year of the YaoI don't know what it is about (will have to check imdb.com), but if it is in the vain of Samurai Jack, then woo hoo!
John Williams: Star Wars: Episode III
You know what? I am starting to loose interest in new Williams scores. I never thought I'd say that!
Christopher Young:
An Unfinished LifeHaving heard a tiny, tiny bit - boring!
Aaron Zigman: Heart of Summer
Who???

"Team America" is a new political satire from Trey Parker and Matt Stone (South Park) about a group of superheroes who set out to end terrorism. All the characters are being played by marionettes. Yes, you read that correctly - marionettes.

He wrote The Girl With a Pearl Earring and was nominated to a number of awards for it. He is now represented in Hollywood by Kraft-Engel.

I couldn't agree more!

Alan Menken:
NoelIs this another crappy disney thing? When will he break free and provide us with the wonderful scoires we know he can do???
No, it's actually a live action film - an intimate drama, sort of an ensemble piece directed by Chazz Palminteri. It's only Menken's second live-action score!
quote:
Julian Nott:
The Wallace and Gromit Movie: Curse of the WererabbitCool! Am I the only fan of both his music and the W&G shorts?
Certainly not! Julian Nott is an extremely talented composer and he has written a lot of very good scores, not only for the Q&G films. IMO he's one of the most underrated composers in the business.
quote:
Michael Nyman:
The Assassination of Richard NixonGreat. The man who says films scores are too overpowering gets this movie? What a huge let down.
This one I have to correct. Steven Stern is doing it! And then we both say "who?". Well, he's been around for a while but this is his first bigger film. He used for a certain mr Hans Zimmer: http://pro.imdb.com/name/nm0004401/
quote:
Aaron Zigman: Heart of SummerWho???
Zigman just scored The Notebook which is a quite beautiful score!

Nyman has yet another new project coming...From Digital Chosunilbo (Korean News Service):
quote:
Michael Nyman takes charge of Kim Ki-Duk's Next Film ScoreA renowned English film music composer Michael Nyman (60) will be in charge of directing the music for a film production. The movie he will participate in is director Kim Ki-Duk's next movie "Empty House" (Korean: Binjip), which will start filming on July 2. When the two people met on June 9, director Kim Ki-Duk received a proposal from Michael Nyman that he was interested in directing the music for Kim's movie.
Nyman is a great artist who is best known for his successful musical scores in Jane Campion's "The Piano," and Peter Greenaway's "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover." At the end of last month, he came to Korea for a performance. During his press conference, he said, "I saw Kim Ki-Duk's film 'Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring', and it was great." With this response the LG Arts Center, the sponsor of the performance, invited Kim to the performance held on June 8, on behalf of Nyman's request and arranged a gathering for the two people.
During the two-hour conversation, Nyman showed curiosity about Kim's next movie and said he wanted to take charge of his film's music. Director Kim said, "Due to our production costs, we can only give you US$1 million." Nyman responded, "Money isn't important," and made his thoughts clear that money wouldn't be an issue.
Kim replied that he didn't know much about Michael Nyman's music but after participating in the performance, he was very impressed. He also said "It's the first time working with a foreign musician, so I'm really looking forward to it." Kim will entrust the music to Nyman by sending on-the-spot film cuts, right after he finishes the filming at the end of July.
The movie "Empty House" attracted US$1 million in investment from Japan. For Kim, with these investments, the movie will be a virtual "blockbuster." The movie tells the story of a man whose whole fortune is a motorcycle who lives his life moving from empty house to empty house. By chance, he saves a woman who was held prisoner in one of the empty houses. After the rescue, they wander around the country together.
The actors have all been cast, and a production schedule will be announced soon.
Sounds interesting.
