Certainly! I'm still trying to get together with Jeron, but he still has a little time before he heads back.

I'm very much looking forward to this film and the score. But I do have one minor complaint. What the heck is wrong with Paramount's advertising campaign on this film?
Did you see the poster and cover to this CD? It's drab and boring and says NOTHING about the film.
This would have been the perfect film for a vintage style poster by Drew Struzan.
I hope the film and score do well. It's sort of been a lackluster second half of summer.

The score is fabulous and I'm a big fan of the film as well. But I do agree Paramount seems to have no idea how to promote it...

I can't wait to hear the score - first time I have said that about any of Ed's scores. The movie looks very stylistic, but that doesn't say anything about how the qaulity of the story and characters will be. I feel a little iffy on those. I might see the movie anyway.

I absolutely agree that Paramount sucks at advertising- I am however looking foreword to the film- I'm hoping for a more stylisic INDIANA JONES (We can only cross our fingers. I'm not really familiar with Ed's work but I hope that he goes with a retro- "1930's Superman [the cartoon] sound."Looking foreword to it

I think the newest trailer at the film's web site features some of Ed Shearmur's score. Jeff can probably confirm this as he's already seen the film.It sounds very retro and fitting to the film.

I haven't seen the trailer but I can confirm that the movie is very much Indy/early Star Wars in style--very light on its feet and I liked the characters very much.

Folks, sonyclassical.com has a website set up for the Sky Captain score with short sound clips of each track to give you an idea of what it will sound like. Now I'm even more eager to see the movie and get the score. The descriptions given to the style of the film by folks in this thread seem accurate, though sound clips of the score are no way to determine this as such. But what I'm hearing there sounds like it may be worth the price.[Message edited by Widescreen on 08-21-2004]

This one announces Shearmur as one butt-kicking epic film composer. I haven't listened to a damned near hour long score and then wanted to go back and listen to the whole thing again in a very long time.If this film gets the audience it seems to deserve, this is going to put Shearmur on the map in a big way.
I REALLY liked this score!

Okay, I got 20 minutes in and decided to save the rest for later. And anyway, those 20 minutes already greatly exceeded my expectations for this score. I expected it to be good, but I had no idea it would be on this level. It could not have come at a better time, too...with the departures of Goldsmith, Raksin, and Bernstein seemingly signifying the downfall of an entire era, Sky Captain is like Shearmur lifting me off the floor and reassuring me that it's all going to be okay...and then strapping me into a fighter jet and throwing me off into the sky to get some fresh air.Hmm, still two weeks until this is released? Maybe I will keep listening....

This is all preliminary. These may not all be entirely accurate. At least two of the tracks segue together ("Back to Earth" and "Over the Rainbow") so it's possible that more of them do too. In the meantime though this is the the CD I made from the AOL stream. I'm looking forward to hearing this album with proper sound.

Well after journeying to best buy, circuit city, and the mall, I finally picked this one up at walmart of all places. I must say it was well worth it all, this is probably my favorite score of the year now. Very indiana jones, and star warsish. It reminds me of Early williams, and new Silvestri combined, extremely highly recomended.

God bless you Sam Wal-mart...haha.
And yes, this score rules! Best of the year for me, and one of the most enjoyable and exciting action/adventure scores I've heard in a lonnnng time. I think Shearmur's Oscar countdown clock is set. (It's set for 5-10 years from now.)

Ditto for me as well, except that I went to Media Play, Best Buy, Borders, and Barnes + Nobles ... and finally found it at Circuit City (their only copy on the shelf). Jeez! And as with the previous posts, I too love the score!

I picked up mine at the local Hastings, and I am pretty impressed. Edward Shearmur is definitely someone to keep an eye on (I also really enjoyed his score for The Count of Monte Cristo.Anyone else see the dedication to Michael Kamen in the insert? I thought that was nice.
Anyway; the music is great. I can't wait to see the film.

Great interview! Once again, Ed proves he speaks as cool and intelligently as his music. A couple of interesting things-- he says the love theme is never quoted in its entirety? Not even in the "Back to Earth" cue where there's like 4 phrases of the theme? I also like the fact that there's 100 minutes of score for this film. I can't wait to see the flick and hear all the unreleased bits...

Great movie with a great look and just a good feel to it.I felt it was very well written...as opposed to both of Stephen Sommers last two films (which I consider to be in somewhat of the same vein.)
Sure its cliched, but that's the point.
Shearmur's score....fantastic!
Highly recommended for anyone who likes adventure, fantasy and sci-fi.
