Well with this summer being the 20th Anniversary premier for Back To The Future 1...do you guys think it's possible we might see the full or at least a proper release for the first Back To The Future score???posted 03-08-2005 11:20 PM PT (US)

What are the big pieces missing from Silvestri's score that should be released? I'm only familiar with the theme and understand that it has a limited score release, bunched together with some songs on MCA Records. Is the Varése re-recording no good?p.s. Bush would have just as much trouble with Windows Media Audio files as he does with non-existent weapons of mass destruction.

What are the big pieces?? HMM...well lol for starters...the whole score is just awesome and the crappy 15 minutes worth of Silvestri's score on the MCA release doesn't cut it.We don't have the "The Lybians" cue where the Lybians find Doc a Twin Pines Mall....then there's The Skateboard Chase(film version), 1.21 Gigawatts....BOTH cues for The Clock Tower sequence including the little motif for Doc's theme when he rejoices at the end of that sequence after seeing the DeLorean vanish into the future.
Also Doc Returns...when he returns back from the future to bring Marty and Jennifer to the future at the end of the show...
Well there's A LOT more music that would like to have released....basically if a proper release of the score does happen this year there's enough cues to make a single entire complete CD release of it.
Edit: Also forgot one major important kick butt cue is when Marty returns back to 1985 and sees the Lybians driving past him heading to what was changed into "Lone Pine Mall"

The promo is alittle over 40 minutes. But it is missing about 20 minutes of score.
There used to be a site which broke down the score and how many cues it was and how long it was. but I can't remember the site anymore.Jeff

The website is http://www.chez.com/bttf/mainpage.htm
No updates in almost two years

The promo was also from a cassette master, so the sound leaves much to be desired. A bootlegging outfit cleaned it up a little while back, but that can sometimes sound worse (the digital washout is a killer).
This is THE soundtrack that got me into film scoring at the age of five! It's one of few "Grails" for me
I really hope that Decca/Universal or Varese (if they can get the rights) is able to release this for the 20th anniversary. It is probably one of the few logistic chances they'll have until the 25th anniverary.NP- Hollow Man
