Scandinavian release date seems to have moved again to 21st of Dec.(according to CDON.com a Scandinavian online record store). How nice that we get it week later than other Europeans.
They should hang the marketing team at Warner Finland and Scandinavia. No info is on their home pages.
A team of monkeys really seems to be handling the release at Reprise. Ridiculous lack of info. How long do we have to keep waiting for the last word on the release date here in Scandinavia? And why do other countries receive this release earlier than us? I demand justice! So there could be a week of waiting left or two for us Scandinavians. I do not know.

According to the Dutch store Bol.com the release date is December 18, but the Dutch store NLStore says the release date is December 9.

As long as the DE/UK dates don't move, that's just fine
Say, why don't you guys just order from a UK or DE store? If those dates you mention are real, then you'll surely get it earlier.

The delivery estimate was 5-20 th of JANUARY!!! I do not understand why they would not deliver it in 1-2 days if I order with Priority mail? Is it because of the latenes of my order and they have a Christmas rush in the delivery? That should not be the reason. Could it be a mix up since the Box is only in preorder and they can't calculate delivery if there is not availability assigned to it yet?

Alright, I've had it with Reprise! The date for Germany has moved to December 16th! And the price is STILL that high! And here's a radical thought: why not order right here at moviemusic?

Doug,What is the audio format that will be used by the DVD that will be in the FOTR Complete Soundtrack due for release on 13 Dec 2005 ? Will it be in DVD - Audio (Enhanced Resolution) or Dolby Digital 5.1 surround etc ? DVD Audio format can only be played on DVD Audio players, although many DVD Audio discs also come with a dual 5.1 Surround track that can be played on conevntional DVD players. One does not get to hear the enhanced sound unless a DVD Audio player is used.
Thanks.

It would seem there is the Advanced Resolution Surround and Dolby Surround. According to CDON atleast.

Found at the Film Score Monthly message board:"For those curious....
The fourth disc appears to be a hybrid.
If you have a regular DVD player, you can listen to the complete score in Dolby Digital 2.0 (224kbps), or Dolby Digital 5.1 (448kbps).
If you have a DVD-Audio compatible player, you can listen to it in High Resolution Stereo (PCM2.0 48k/24-bit) or High Resolution Surround Sound (PCM5.1 48k/24-bit).

Wonderful, now I have this expensive DVD player that SHOULD play DVD-Audio discs.... but of course, it randomly quit doing that.

I have Basil Pouledouris' score to "The Touch" on DVD. Although DD 5.1 it has two annoying track changes/be it layer changes (in a track with music) that interrupt the flow of music and pause the whole presentation (on my player at least) for 1 second.I hope that the layer change on this DVD presentation of LOTR: FOTR is just between the silence of two tracks.

*cough* GOT ... *cough* IT!Since I've ordered it here, I think you desere to get my initial thoughts first
I'm in the middle of disc 2 right now (track 2) and it's nothing short but breathtaking. A minor gripe there is, though: I find the placement of the vocal performances by the actors a little strange. Especially Ian Holm's voice- over. Unlike Ian McKellen, he's not in sync with the score, so that somehow disturbs the flow.
But apart from that, it's just brilliant! And the packaging is perfect! I was kind of surprised by the size of this thing, since Doug told us it wasn't going to be much bigger than a standard jewel case.
The design is just how I would have done it. Book- design, perfect storage for the three CDs and one mind- boggling booklet.
Doug, I bow before you as deep as I can! If the book is done in the same manner, it will be nothing less than spectacular! I thought I knew Shore's LotR scores inside out. Well, you showed me that I know basically nothing yet....
Sorry, have to cut it now, I get to Rivendell and I want to fully enjoy that

WOOT! Just got back from B&N with the precious in my hands! The packaging is superb, the scan of the back cover shown a few days ago is actually just a piece of paper not attached to the case, the back of the case is more of the map of Middle Earth. My ONLY complaint (Doug, if you are listening) is that the DVD disc is "secured" so to speak with a rubber clamp in the middle. This is not a good way to keep it in as it has already fallen off when I opened it the first time. Just a thought to pass along to the right people for the TTT & ROTK releases!OK, I am almost done listening to disc 1 and it is fantastic! I love the singing that is included by the cast, esp. the Green Dragon bit! The booklet is very nice so far, I am on page 7, just got done reading the intro. If this is a sign of what the book will be like then we will truly be thankful to you, Doug!
OK, gotta go now, bye!

OK, here is what it says on page 43 of the CD booklet:"Additional information, including choral texts, the annotated scores, performer bios and more available at: www.lordoftherings-soundtrack.com and in the complete book The Music of the Lord of the Rings Films, released in 2006"
Darn, was hoping to get a little blurb about the release dates of TTT & ROTK.

I finally got the Complete Recordings today! And it is a dream come true.
Doug I humbly thank you for your patience with us. This set was worth the wait. And your liners are both entertaining and extremely informative. Thank you for that too. I hope your book would be released sooner. I have been listening to the music non stop for hours now. And I intend to continue for hours more. I have to delve deeper into the music and themes.
This is the best Christmas (well pre- Christmas) present ever!

Hey. After hour upon hour of staring at the same site and hitting refresh, the first wave of updates are starting to appear. So far, we have a picture of the Score with a Buy button, and a broken/not-yet-built link to download the Free Annotated Score. The rest of the page still has the same old ROTK Soundtrack Info.I can't wait to see what's up by tomorrow morning...

Well, the update of the website isn't that big as I thought it would be. It's the same page as the last two years, but now they've added a picture and a link to Amazon where you can buy the new set and you can download an annotated score, but the link doesn't work![Message edited by Frank V on 12-14-2005]

The only problem I had was with the packaging. That little rubber center holding the DVD in made it nearly impossible to get the disc out. In fact, I cracked the silly thing. I had to run back to BB and get another one, and removed the disc right there in the store. It's now in its own little DVD case, complete with custom artwork. But thanks Doug for the wonderful work you have done with this. I can't wait for your book to come out - because I can't read the small type!!
