I liked what I heard. But in the video they said they are recording 2 hours and 48 minutes of score. So our luck the cues I heard in the video will probably miss out on the release.

From the small snippets I could hear throughout the video, it sounds excellent, I cant wait to hear the full blown score blasting through the theater speakers. Although the last few movies I've seen at the theater, didnt do the movie justice because they had the sound turned down so low it was really hard to get into. When I watch my regular tv, without my dolby system cranked, it's louder for pete's sake!!! Sorry to go off on a tangent there, but when I go the theater I expect the music, and sfx to make the theater literally rumble. Anyway, hopefully with Kong they will crank it!!!

That video is great. Nice to finally put faces to the names we see in the liner note credits.Funny thing is...
looking at both the Shore video and the JNH video, in 2005 it takes a huge number of musicians (100+ either in Shore's version, or Howard's version) to create a massive & dense orchestral sound which Max Steiner achieved 70 years ago with half as many players.
Kind of sad, really - not funny.
Other than that, JNH's score from those clips sounds like just about anything we could expect from him (Waterworld, Dinosaur, etc).

Steiner used lots of overdubbing though (or did you already take that into account for your number?)

sweetness = yes, haters! = what?I figured that if anyone could pull off this monumental task it would be JNH. Looks like he's going for the full blown big sound... perhaps we'll have one for the ages. After viewing a preview movie clip last evening I'm getting increasingly optimistic. Now viewing the JNH/score mov, even more so. Thanks for the link.

http://www.moviemusic.com/mb/Forum1/HTML/014166.htmlThere were a lot of us who were quite upset with the change that JNH brought, myself included. I think a lot has changed now of course, and we are more accepting of Shore's replacement.
Now leave me alone until I'm able to finally watch this thing tomorrow. ;-)
