I noticed that each section of the orchestra is separted by a partition. I was wondering what the reason for this was and how does it affect the overall recording?

TimT, since this is sequel number 2 of the remake of a 40 year old show, they obviously don't have the budget for nice directional mikes. One way to isolate sections of the orchestra is to partition them off with cubicle furniture from IKEA.

I'm glad Cruise and J Garner showed up. Cruise understands he's not quite the lightning rod he used to be, and now resorts to cavorting with the lower levels of post-production to make a positive, if not genuinely and laughably fake, image for himself. If someone were to ask, I'd say he looks really retarded conducting the orchestra.

Nice to see Goldwasser's continued enthusiasm for this stuff.

Hmmm... I don't know. I see what you mean, but in a broader context, most elderly ladies would kill for a conductor like that to show up at their local orchestra. Younger women might also be interested in going to the symphony. If the music's boring, at least they can look at something else.

I mean, one of the most interesting concerts I've seen was when Tania Miller came to conduct the local band. The music making was fantastic, but seeing a nice looking young(ish) woman waving a stick was a definite treat for the guys in the hall. I could almost feel the whip...errr... nevermind.

This could be the soundtrack record-producer's key to snagging the female market!

When I was a student this hot model-looking blonde in my French class was working to become a conductor. I don't know what ever happened to her but there would've been something extremely fetish-inspiring about seeing her in a tux...
