Even thought this is from the Sony Music Store site, I'm not sure how final this is as it doesn't even include the song "You Know My Name."

There is a slightly different tracklist at play.com with cover art! Note that the song isn't listed here either.

While I'm looking forward to another Bond soundtrack- I'm disappointed to see the song won't be included. You Know My Name was a helluva lot better than most be people around here thought. That's there taste, so be it, but it had solid lyrics, and it some of Arnold's most interesting writing for a song. If "Only Me to Blame" had a better vocalist on it for The World Is Not Enough, it would have been in the movie.

Anyway, the song was 10 times better than Tomorrow Never Dies (the piano sound and chord structure made it sound like the Perry Mason theme), certainly WAY better than Die Another Day (hardly a chord change in the four minutes and not the most memorable lyrics, Madonna can do better- she can't do minimalist well at all), and I'll certainly take it over Thunderball (my least favorite Bond song). Chris Cornell's vocals were extremely listenable, and the rock sound on it was propulsive. Why people hated it so much at test screenings and at the sites where the mp3 was available, I don't understand. It's a ridiculous condemnation and underserved.

You Know My Name is worth having in the film and on the soundtrack. Its a mistake to go without it.

Chris, I too really like the song. Am I missing something? It's not going to be in the movie due to test screenings, or what? What's the dealio there? I'm willing to bet this tracklisting isn't final, though if it is, I'm sure there will be another way to get the song. Either way I'm looking forward to this release.

Also... Thunderball's a great song. Maybe someone doesn't like Tom Jones?

Well, I won't say John Barry's a hack when I love Goldfinger so much. But THunderball as a song lyrically doesn't work for me so much ,plus the arrangment attacks my ears too often. However, you're very perceptive. It's not that I hate Tom Jones, just that his vibrato rubs me the wrong way- I can't hang with that. Especially the song "Delilah". If ever have to hear that song again, it'll be an occasion too soon. However, I joke about "What's New Pussycat?"

But back to the song - I'd read on AICN that the test audience reacted badly to the song. I seriously doubt that really took it out, it was too recent a screening and they're way too close to finishing the film. So I agree with you, it's an early track list and my reaction may be premature. But bear in mind, AICN is responsible for shaping the travesties of commercial film recently. Example: Godzilla (1998).
