For some our older members, Shaun, Lou Goldberg, Peter K, Marian.I found out that one of our former board members, H Rocco (Guy Mariner Tucker) passed away.
http://www.tohokingdom.com/After he left the board we still kept in touch but sadly I lost contact with him a few years ago.

That's too bad. He was a great writer, and took compliments with great dignity. If you've not read his work, you can start with the liner notes to one of FSM's PotA CDs:http://www.moviemusic.com/soundtrack/conquestoftheplanetofapes
I'm sure there is lots more, including all of his posts in our forum:http://www.moviemusic.com/cgi-bin/mb/search.pl?query=rocco&results=25

OH NO!! He was one of my favourite FSM (and moviemusic.com) members back in the day. His long and insightful posts were always worth reading. He is a "messageboard legend", in many ways. He must have died WAY too young.R.I.P. Guy!
By the way, Mark, I've posted this info over at FSM as well (with reference to your post here), since he was a regular there as well. Hope that is OK.

I'd hoped he would come back but the circumstances around his departure from FSM and here were "messy".I'm not sure of his age Thor, I thought he might be around my age. I know those who actually met him at the Detroit concert could tell you. I tried looking for an obituary but came up with nothing.

Rest in peace your H'nessI had many conversations with Guy, here, at FSM and by e-mail.
I'm shocked and not quite sure what to say right now?

Not his H'ness...I remember being very agitated by the mess that made him leave the message boards all those years ago (I think it was briefly before I went to London for the 2001 Goldsmith concert). Unfortunately, I didn't manage to keep e-mail contact with him for very long.
All those years ago, he was among the most intelligent and well-written members of these boards. He's certainly partly responsible for my (still too small) interest in Christopher Young.
RIP
PS: Every once in a while, when one of these old threads gets pushed back to the top with a new post, you can find his posts. We had far more in-depth discussions in those days.

This is very sad. He was only about 39 years old. I heard from him less than a year ago, and he expressed hope and excitement about a new project. R.I.P.

I remember being very agitated by the mess that made him leave the message boards all those years ago...joan, I believe it was not all that long ago that we were talking about how time indeed has a way of healing wounds...specifically in deference to the "mess" cited above. Which makes the irony of losing yet another 'Guy', before his time, all the more bitter.
According to the website announcing his passing, there is a memorial service in the works. I shall try to attend.

Peter, thank you for posting that link to his posts. Had a wonderful nostalgic bout of the 'best medicine'.********************************************

That was a very fair assessment, JJH. I know from where you come. The "mess" need not be rehashed, although curiosity is quite expected and understandable. And as such, it will inevitably be rehashed. But not right now, at least from my end.
Suffice it to say that Guy was a huge part of a remarkable weekend 6 years ago in Detroit when a few of us emerged from cyberspace and met in the flesh for the Goldsmith concerts and more. "More" included terrific encounters with Jerry himself.
I shall attempt to accent this favorable time in Guy's life by gathering threads and related recollections. It will take time that right now is not available to me but the effort will be made as soon as possible.

I read some rumors last year at the Monster Zero message boards that his health wasn't good but the subject was never brought up again.

I just think the episode that need not be discussed left a very bad impression on me, and then left people with a bad impression ABOUT me. Since then, I hadn't really cared one iota what online people thought about me, because here was proof that someone could take on 15 different identities and make them all unique and keep harassing the boards for no damn reason.posted 12-14-2006 07:10 PM PT (US) Shaun Rutherford

This is incredibly sad news. I got to meet him in Detroit, and I walked away from that experience slightly surprised that less talkative people than me existed. But he always had a wealth of things to say when he was at the message boards, as anyone can find going back over his posts.I missed all the hubbub about his departure. I think I'm sort of happy about that. I'll miss him.
Howard, that thread brought several huge smiles to my face. Thank you!

I was alerted to this by other members of the Board, and have thought quite a bit about it. I reread some old threads and got a happy, remembering some good times a while back.I do volunteer work in hospice care now, and have an even greater belief in the unique and *fragile* beauty of Life. And I know that it's far too damn short for rancor.
Any time that someone as profoundly intelligent and completely, inarguably talented as Guy Tucker leaves this world, the fabric of our existence is diminished. There was a time we called each other Friend; and I hope that he has left Friends that remember him well, as I will choose to. The damages of the past are locked there & my prayer is that he has found lasting peace.
Be Well and Happy, everyone.
---- Mark

I decided to pop back here for a quick look and found this topic thread. For many years acquiring Japanese film music on LP was a dicey proposition. The records were hard to find, pricey when you did find them, and then all in Japanese so that you never knew what you were listening to. You could hear these great scores while watching Japanese films but your chances of locating them on disc were next to impossible.
All of Guy's posts usually had an NP note of some Akira Ifukube score. Guy was the first guy (no pun intended) who made it clear to me that the scores were out there, could be found & acquired, and could be translated. In fact, my first complete Ifukube scores came from cassette tapes that Guy was willing to make for me (including the score to Whale God which he particularly liked). For that alone, I owe Guy immeasurably.
I've never read Guy's book or articles, only messages he left her at MM.com, but those were enough to know where he was coming from.
