As if LOTR is all Doug's got going. Don't forget this:

I know about Doug's other projects, but I just kinda passed them through the filter

Doug,Yikes, be careful!! Here's wishing you a complete and "hasty" recovery in the Houses of Healing!!
I hope the joy of working on this round of LotR CR helped get your mind off all pains you may be enduring!
My, what tantalizing tidbits you have offered us here! My anticipation quotient just went up several degrees on the Richter Scale!! Be still my heart! Now where did I put my meds!!!! :-)

Wow Doug,Thanks for a great update, and we are even more in your debt than usual, since you are doing it while recovering from surgery! I tried going back to work once immediately after a "minor" procedure (oral surgery), but it was hard to type with one hand (the other was holding an ice pack against my face), and as the anesthetic began to wear off, my ability to concentrate diminished, and I fled home.
Anyway, many wishes for a quick and complete recovery!

Great update Doug! This holiday season will be three times the fun (ROTK:CR, Rarities, Book!!). Where does everyone think Liv Tyler's vocals will end up in the score? Also, the clips of Bitterblue sound fantastic...very magical. Texturally, some clips have a very "Elliot and ET" simplicity and beauty. In other words, AWESOME.

Hey Doug, first of all: thanx for the up-date and I hope your going to be healthy again very soon.
Now, your bitting little comment about my post for the conducted "live soundtrack" to "The Fellowship of the Ring" took me a bit in surprise. Have I been missinformed? I've heard that he should have told so to some event manager from the concert hall KKL... perhaps this was a missunderstanding... anyway. I kind a feel bad for missinforming you guys here in the forum. So my appologize for this!!!

Doug, you are truly a trooper! That's true dedication for you, folks! Very interesting to hear that both Liv Tyler and Sissel will be in the CR, I am also curious as to where each one will be in the CR. Hope you get well soon, Doug. I have a back brace that probably would have prevented your injury but a little too late, I guess!-Chad

Hi everyone,Thanks very much for the well-wishes. I did, indeed, give myself a hernia and lived with it about 10 months until I gave in to surgery. I actually didn't intend to whine to everyone in a campaign for sympathy... I was really just trying to justify my slow... and perhaps foggy... responses as of late. But your comments have been very touching.
Oh, and Mr. Horner, no bitting comment was intended. That was just my off-center way of saying you may in fact be on to something...
All best,
-Doug

Live FotR projection with orchestra would be so awesome.

But I'm very glad to hear, that this project could eventually happen. So, I'm going to "stay" tuned again!

Doug, get better soon! Should I send flowers? Thank you for working so hard on so many things while suffering with back pain! Gotta question for ya: will the music for the bonus disc be on just one disc or is it possible that it will be on more than one disc? I know...I'm greedy and lustful for LotR music!

Actually, funny story: my father once was in the middle of a hernia surgery, and realised he couldn't find the man's testicles.
He thought he did something "wrong" or got lost in there. Turned out that the guy had both testicles amputated. That was good for a laugh or two.

Okay CK, do me a favour then please if you have the time and patience. Since I don't have the 4 disc editions of LOTR, can you start off a list of unheard music on those appendices (with timestamps if possible) that other people can add to? I don't know that the list can help me since I don't have the discs, but it's just to know what's out there *crazy fanboy*It's exciting since I don't have those discs and have no idea what to expect
And for Doug, just a thought. Did you acknowledge sometime back and somewhere here that there would be a slipcase to kepp all the CRs in? If yes, and assuming it will be released alongwith ROTK:CR, and since the rarities will probably be released sometime later with your book, please please don't forget to leave space for the rarities box (if it is a box :P) or else it'll feel lonely up on the shelf
That would just increase everyone's anticipation - a slipcase with an empty slot awaiting the last great musical release of LOTR.
The last release... and then it'll be like way back in 2004 when there was no LOTR to look forward to in December

The last release?
I do not believe it. I will not!I'm sure, there is more to come - maybe a DVD of the Symphony (with Maestro Shore conducting of course)?
There is still hope...

Did you ever wonder what LotR could have sounded like had John Williams had composed the score?Well, I really didn't, but still, this wasn't too badly done:

This qualifies more as a music video than actual scoring. Plus, he completely rearranged the film.I usually like temp scoring, but hearing the Jurassic Park theme replacing the "You bow to no one" music doesn't feel well.
All that put aside, it works well, but feels terribly clichèed.

I think a slip case for all of the complete recordings box sets plus the rarities project would be an excellent idea! I have one for the extended dvd sets. It's ok but I feel that it could have been designed better. If such a case is in the works for the music recordings I wonder what the color will be and if its design will be a little more imaginative? Doug?
By the way, hope you're feeling better!
