The same prices will show up here shortly if they aren't there already... this isn't a limited time offering.

Does this price reduction mean anything? Is it any indication of the future of the company?

It usually means boxes (and boxes) of product are not moving and it's time to clean out some space. But yeah, 50% price reduction is usually reserved for Tower Records liquidation!

The MM prices, most of them, reflect the new prices... those $6 CDs are harder to match because of current stock already on hand, but even so, $10 a CD is a great price.

Apart from Butterfly Effect, which I've heard, can anyone recommend any of the above list?

Terror Tract by Brian Tyler is fantastic. Kind of Similar to Batman.

Stealing Time is really pretty nice. Likewise, I enjoyed Seed of Chucky.

Zulu Dawn is a Bernstein CLASSIC. At $10 it is a must-buy (in fact at $30 it would be a must-buy).

Looks like they also knocked five bucks off their Lost in Space release as well.

If I don't say it, someone else will: this mass price reduction thing does not auger well for the company.*

That said, KISS KISS BANG BANG is one of Ottman's finest; a very smooth score. THE PUNISHER is a rich, thematic work, heavy on the 'thematic'.

    * - If all is well in the company, I retract my statement.

Maybe LaLaLand needs to move products to pay for their "upcoming" release of Arnold's Godzilla.

On a serious note I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

I just want to clear up this speculation -- nothing is wrong with the company. As a matter of fact, we doubled are profits in 2006 and hope this trend continues.

The reason we lowered prices on several releases is simple -- inventory. Some of these titles we pressed up too many. Why should I have them collect dust in my warehouse when I can sell them at a lower cost to the fans. I lose, you lose, the artist loses -- everyone loses. Thus the price slash. This is what regular dvd and cd companies do. They usually lower the retail price on their product 6 months to a year after the release date. I write again, why have them collect dust?

Why no other soundtrack companies do this is silly to me. If you have dead stock then move it out. Our royalty rates are still the same with the composers and production companies. They still get paid on the full retail price for every unit sold. We, La la land, are the only ones losing out on the larger profits now.

Thus far this price reduction has been a smash and I hope people are able to buy some cds that they normally would not have purchased because of the higher price. As a collector myself I hope other companies follow suit. I'm not made of money, but I sure as hell would buy more cds if they became cheaper 12 months down the road.

Well, thanks MV for clearing up all speculations. I'm really looking foward to the Battlestar Galactica Season 3 album this summer.

Because you can gather enough dust on each CD that at some point you can have composers autograph the dust with their fingers. Then plastify the whole thing and sell it at a higher cost to the fans.
