That's a pretty awesome list, but I'm not sure how many responses you're gonna get.

I, for one, certainly don't have time.

Christian, I'm very impressed with your track titles. Many of those are my favorite. And I know you're young, but your tracks are from modern scores and from Silver and Golden age scores. They show you're willing to listen to all kinds of film music. Very impressive!!!

Alright! I'm not going to even attempt 200... so this is what I'm doing.

I created a smart playlist in iTunes of all my tracks with a rating of 4 or 5. I arranged that list alphabetically by album, and I'm scanning the album names for notable entries. From those albums, I select the highlight(s).

I won't purport that these are objectively the best, of course... only my favorites, or in some cases, simply very respected.

    In alphabetical order:

    Apollo 13 - Re-Entry and Splashdown
    Ben-Hur - Promise; Finale
The Adventures of Robin Hood - Main Title
    The Aviator - Icarus
    Backdraft - Fighting 17th
Beauty and the Beast - Transformation
The Big Country - Main Title
    Braveheart - End Credits
    CutThroat Island - It's Only Gold/End Titles
The Da Vinci Code - Kyrie for the Magdalene
Dances with Wolves - Two Socks (The Wolf Theme); Farewell/End Title
The Departed - The Departed Tango
    Dinosaur - The Egg Travels
    E.T. - End Credits
Edward Scissorhands - The Grand Finale
The Final Conflict - Main Title (OMG! Jerry Goldsmith! )
Final Fantasy - Adagio & Transfiguration; Race to Old New York
Finding Neverland - The Park on Piano; Forgotten Overture
    The Fly - Finale
Forrest Gump - I'm Forrest... Forrest Gump
The Ghost and the Darkness - Theme (again!! OK, I'll stop that...)
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir - Andante Cantabile
Girl with a Pearl Earring - Colours in the Clouds
Gladiator - Patricide (SHOCK and awe... Hans Zimmer!)
Glory - Charging Fort Wagner, An Epitaph to War
    Godfather - Waltz
    Hamlet (Doyle) - In Pace
Hook - You Are the Pan
    Harry Potter 1 - Hedwig's Theme
Harry Potter 2 - Meeting Tom Riddle
Harry Potter 3 - A Window to the Past; Buckbeak's Flight; Secrets of the Castle
Harry Potter 4 - Another Year Ends; Hogwarts' Hymn
The Hunt for Red October - Main Title
    The Incredibles - The Incredits
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - End Credits
Jurassic Park - Theme from Jurassic Park
Legends of the Fall - Alfred, Tristan, the Colonel, the Legend...
    Les Miserables - Valjean's Journey
Life is Beautiful - Abbiamo Vinto

LotR is VERY difficult, but for the sake of my fingers not getting tired, I'll just write the BEST of the best:

LotR: The Fellowship of the Ring - Prologue (CR); Gilraen's Memorial (CR); Balin's Tomb (CR) Khazad-Dum (CR); The Breaking of the Fellowship
LotR: The Two Towers - Foundations of Stone/Glamdring; Evenstar; The Three Hunters (CR); Wraiths on Wings (CR); Gandalf the White (CR); The Breach of the Deeping Wall (CR); Theoden Rides Forth (CR)
LotR: The Return of the King - The White Tree; Twilight and Shadow; The Fields of the Pelennor; The Black Gate Opens; The Return of the King; Into the West

    Whew. Back to normality....

The Magnificent Seven - Main Title
The Matrix - The Power Plant; Anything Is Possible
The Matrix Reloaded Complete Score - Neo Miraculous
The Matrix Revolutions - Main Title; Neodämmerung; Spirit of the Universe
The Mission - On Earth As It Is in Heaven; Miserere
The Nativity Story - In Rosa Vernat Lilium
    The Omen - Ave Satani
Out of Africa - End Title
The Painted Veil - River Waltz
    Pan's Labyrinth - Lullaby
The Passion of the Christ - Resurrection
    Peyton Place - Main Title
    The Pink Panther - Theme
    Psycho - Prelude
    The Red Violin - Chaconne
    Schindler's List - Theme; Remembrances
The Sixth Sense - Malcolm Is Dead
Snow Falling on Cedars - Can I Hold You Now?
Somewhere in Time - Title track
    Spartacus - Love Theme
Star Wars I - Duel of the Fates
Star Wars II - Across the Stars
Star Wars IV - Main Title; End Credits
Star Wars V - Imperial March
To Kill a Mockingbird - Boo Who?; Main Title
    Vertigo - Prelude & Rooftop; Scene d'amour
    The Village - The Vote

    That. took. a. long. time.

Kuhn, I need some tips on how to go about starting and maintaining such a list... I have about 10 minutes a week to work on it.

I'd love it if more people could post this sort of thing... then you really get into the minds of our fellow forumongers.

By "fellows," I mean you, too, Joan... and other, um... let's just say sex of the species has not been assigned... argh, let's just use a different word: comrade! uhh.. buddy! no. chum! d'oh. mate! hmmm. Top 200 guy nicknames for friends that don't quite translate well to the female of the species? I'd better stop while I am in last place already....

    Christian, you still with me?

No, I'm afraid not. However, in answer to your question...get yourself some Rota viruses, which will give you A LOT of time to come up with these lists...

Another -much more enjoyable- way is to do, say, a couple of tracks every day and make the list grow.

And no, I do not actually have a life worth speaking of!

OK, I had to try this out. Took me a couple of hours spread over a couple of days, but I did it. Anyway, my list is purely comprised of what some would call "modern" scores. That is, I only included cues from 1980 and beyond. I just don't know enough yet about the golden and silver ages of scores.

The really tough part is deciding which cue should go where. So, this list represents a rough idea of my top 200.
