    THE INVASION
    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

    Music Composed by John Ottman

    Nicole Kidman
    Daniel Craig

THE INVASION is a nightmarish journey into a world where the only way to stay alive is to stay awake. The mysterious crash of the space shuttle leads to the terrifying discovery that there is something alien within the wreckage. Those who come in contact with it are changing in ominous and inexplicable ways. Soon Washington D.C. psychiatrist Carol Bennell (Nicole Kidman) and her colleague Ben Driscoll (Daniel Craig) learn the shocking truth about the growing extraterrestrial epidemic: it attacks its victims while they sleep, leaving them physically unchanged but strangely unfeeling and inhuman. As the infection spreads, more and more people are altered and it becomes impossible to know who can be trusted. Now Carol’s only hope is to stay awake long enough to find her young son, who may hold the key to stopping the devastating invasion.

The exciting score for THE INVASION was composed by John Ottman.

Warner Bros. opens THE INVASION on August 17.

    AS YOU LIKE IT
    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

    Music Composed by Patrick Doyle

    Kevin Kline
    Bryce Dallas Howard

Performed by The London Symphony Orchestra

    Directed by Kenneth Branagh

With a setting inspired by 19th Century Japan, Kenneth Branagh adapts Shakespeare’s lightest and most delightful comedy As You Like It, a celebration of the enduring power of love in all its many guises. Witty, playful and utterly magical, the story is a compelling romantic adventure in which Rosalind and Orlando’s famous courtship is played out against a backdrop of political rivalry, banishment and exile in Forest of Arden.

The film stars Kevin Kline (Dave), Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3, The Village) and David Oyelowo (The Last King of Scotland).

Patrick Doyle’s score is one of his best. It’s a ravishingly beautiful and exotic work which also has moments of thrilling drama. The score culminates in a spectacular Romance for Violin and Orchestra. Patrick’s Doyle’s As You Like It is one of the film music highlights of the year!

HBO Films will premiere As You Like It on August 21.

    THE LAST LEGION
    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

    Music Composed by Patrick Doyle

    Colin Firth
    Ben Kingsley

The Last Legion is a fantasy action-adventure in the vein of “The Sword and the Stone” set against the fall of Rome and its last emperor, 12-year-old Romulus Augustus, the boy who would rule for a day before losing all that he loved: his family, his home, and an empire that once stood for truth and honor. Imprisoned on the island-fortress of Capri, Romulus searches for a means of escape. He discovers instead “excaliburnus,” the legendary sword of Julius Caesar, and realizes that he must do all in his power to save Rome. Aided by the clever strategies of his teacher, Ambrosinus, and the heroic skills of his loyal legionnaire, Aurelius, Romulus escapes the island. Accompanied by his friends and a mysterious envoy from Constantinople, Romulus travels to Britannia in search of the last Roman Legion — the fabled Dragon Legion. There, Romulus will fight alongside his friends to make his last stand for Rome and take his first steps to becoming a man and the king who would father a legend.

The sweeping, epic symphonic score is by one of the great master composers of our time, Patrick Doyle. Doyle’s music for such Kenneth Branagh classics as Henry V and Much Ado About Nothing, together with his scores for Sense and Sensibility, A Little Princess and Bridget Jones’s Diary establish him as a film music great early on.

The Weinstein Company opens The Last Legion nationwide on August 24.

    BALLS OF FURY
    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

    Music Composed by Randy Edelman

    Christopher Walken
    Dan Fogler

In the unsanctioned, underground and unhinged world of extreme Ping-Pong, the competition is brutal and the stakes are deadly.

Now, Rogue Pictures’ outrageous new comedy Balls of Fury serves up this secret world for the first time on-screen. Written by Thomas Lennon & Robert Ben Garant (Night at the Museum, Reno 911!), the film is directed by Mr. Garant.

Down-and-out former professional Ping-Pong phenom Randy Daytona (Tony Award winner Dan Fogler) is sucked into this maelstrom when FBI Agent Rodriguez (George Lopez) recruits him for a secret mission. Randy is determined to bounce back and recapture his former glory, and to smoke out his father’s (Robert Patrick) killer – one of the FBI’s Most Wanted, arch-fiend Feng (Academy Award winner Christopher Walken).

But, after two decades out of the game, Randy can’t turn his life around and avenge his father’s murder without a team of his own. He calls upon the spiritual guidance of blind Ping-Pong sage and restauranteur Wong (James Hong), and the training expertise of Master Wong’s wildly sexy niece Maggie (Maggie Q), both of whom also have a dark history with Feng. All roads lead to Feng’s mysterious jungle compound and the most unique Ping-Pong tournaments ever staged. There, Randy faces such formidable players as his long-ago Olympics opponent, the still-vicious Karl Wolfschtagg (Mr. Lennon). Can Randy keep his eye on the balls? Will he achieve the redemption he craves while wielding a paddle? Is his backhand strong enough to triumph over rampant wickedness?

The inspirational and exotic score is by Randy Edelman, who has previous served up rousing Asian-influenced scores for films like Dragon and Shanghai Noon.

Balls of Fury opens nationwide on August 31.

    THE KINGDOM
    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

    Music Composed by Danny Elfman

    Jamie Foxx
    Chris Cooper
    Jennifer Garner

Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx leads an all-star ensemble in a timely thriller that tracks a powder-keg criminal investigation shared by two cultures chasing a deadly enemy ready to strike again in The Kingdom.

When a terrorist bomb detonates inside a Western housing compound in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, an international incident is ignited. While diplomats slowly debate equations of territorialism, FBI Special Agent Ronald Fleury (Foxx) quickly assembles an elite team (Oscar winner Chris Cooper and Golden Globe winners Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman) and negotiates a secret five-day trip into Saudi Arabia to locate the madman behind the bombing. Upon landing in the desert kingdom, however, Fleury and his team discover Saudi authorities suspicious and unwelcoming of American interlopers into what they consider a local matter. Hamstrung by protocol — and with the clock ticking on their five days — the FBI agents find their expertise worthless without the trust of their Saudi counterparts, who want to locate the terrorist in their homeland on their own terms.

Fleury’s crew finds a like-minded partner in Saudi Police Captain Al-Ghazi (Ashraf Barhoum), who helps them navigate royal politics and unlock the secrets of the crime scene and the workings of an extremist cell bent on further destruction. With these unlikely allies sharing a propulsive commitment to crack the case, the team is united by one mission that won’t stop until justice is found in The Kingdom.

Danny Elfman contributes one of his most exciting scores ever for this gritty political thriller. It’s thrilling and propulsive, and one of the most anticipated scores of the Fall.

Universal Pictures opens The Kingdom nationwide on September 28.

Crap almighty, that's a lot for one update.

I had a feeling that THE INVASION would be released, as would THE KINGDOM (I heard about this a while ago)...but two Doyle scores? And SHOOT 'EM UP? And BALLS OF FURY? Intriguing.
