Hey all,I noticed that Amazon is listing two albums for "August Rush." One is being released by Sony, the other seems to be on Epic/CBS Soundtracks.
This leads to the question of is one of these a score disc or is Amazon just being goofy? Both are listed as various discs and as being released on the same day.
I am tending to think its a double entry and will be corrected, but one wonders.

According to CD Universe...the CBS/Epic track list is:1. Main Title - Mark Mancina
2. Bach/Break - Steve Erdody/Jonathan Rhys Meyers
3. Moondance - Jonathan Rhys Meyers
4. This Time - Jonathan Rhys Meyers
5. Bari Improv - Kaki King
6. Ritual Dance - Kaki King
7. Raise It Up - Jamia Simone Nash/The IMPACT Repertory Theatre
8. Dueling Guitars - Heitor Pereira/Doug Smith
9. Elgar/Something Inside - Steve Erdody/Jonathan Rhys Meyers
10. August's Rhapsody - Freddie Highmore/Mark Mancina
11. Someday - John Legend
12. King Of The Earth - John Ondrasik
13. God Bless The Child - Chris Botti/Paula Cole
14. La Bamba - Leon Thomas III
15. Moondance - Chris Botti (Hidden Track)Let's hope their either wrong or the Sony one is a score album.
I'd like to point out that the CBS on is still coming Nov 6th...the Sony one is now slated for a week later.

So now on Sony's site, they only list the one album (not sure if they ever listed 2) but it's got the same track listing as the CBS/Epic version. And that's the one that comes out 11/13 unfortunately. So hopefully, one of these is still a score, it's just maybe someone is getting the tracks wrong and Sony forgot to list the score? I don't know. On Sony's site there is a single from August Rush though, maybe that was supposed to be the 2nd CD for some stupid reason...Clayton

Maybe you should all just calm down and focus on something more important. You know, like Optimus Prime or something. Puhhhhlease.

Yes! I am bringing up this thread again! Woohoo!! Anyway, now the Amazon.com listing with Mark Mancina as the artist says "Currently Unavailable." So I am guessing either a score release was planned and got scrapped or they made a mistake. I am leaning towards the latter.Clayton

Well the home video release came and went and still nothing on a score release... Very dissapointing. After seeing the movie, I can imagine that puting together a score album for this movie would be pretty challenging.
And here's what I thought of the movie...
!!!POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Could've been better. While I enjoyed it more than most reviewers, I truly felt the director didn't do that good of a job. I felt that Jonathan Rhys Meyers' character needed way more fleshing out. There should've been more bothering him than the one night stand. With Keri Russell's character, she actually had other things to complain about. A controlling father, a miscarriage, lots of things. But he contiued just freaking out over this one night stand. But I guess that's why it's a fairy tale. I also wish that there was more with Terrence Howard as he was excelent in the movie. As for Robin Willilams... I thing he's an excelent actor in drama's, however his whole section of the movie just annoyed me. These children that he was around were basically the same children as in Hook. They were the lost boys. And the way they did the whole hang out for the children seemed like it was from an 80's low budget TV movie.
Having said that, I think Mark Mancina's score was more than worthy for an Oscar nomination this year. Way more so than Michael Clayton IMO. The way all the music that Evan hears throughout the movie comes together in the Rhapsody is amazing. I think lots of people were robbed by there not being a score release. But that's just my opinion.
By the way, I think it's interesting that the cover art for August Rush on Mark Mancina's main page is for a score album, just had to point that out. It clearly says "Music Composed by Mark Mancina" at the bottom and is slightly different from the soundtrack artwork.

It will actually be released 15 years from now on LaLaLand Records, catalog number LLLCD 98213. Bad Boys did so well with that formula.

But I definitely appreciate LaLa Land for remembering these scores. I still wish they would get their hands on Money Train and The Fan. Those are 2 scores from Sony movies I'd love to get my hands on and are more than deserving of a full score release! But now 15 years down the road, I'll have to send them an e-mail saying, "you remember August Rush?"
PS> I think Bad Boys originally came out in '95. So technically, it's 12 years. Woohoo! Even closer yet!
