You're kidding? And if not... where did you order from?[/B][/QUOTE]Well, actually, I've just got de Message, that my Copy has been shipped today. I beleve it, when it has arrived tomorrow or on saturday morning.
I'm writing filmmusic critics for outnow.ch and as a matter of fact I'm having good connections to CD-Labels in Switzerland. Of course I've also ordered a Promo-Version of LotR:RotK-CR and normaly they ship it on the day of Realise. But (same as it was with James Horners Apocalypto) it seems that my Copy of RotK-CR got shipped today. I'm surprised myself.
But of course I darely hope that this is true.

Of course the reason is understandable http://www.howardshore.com/news/But wow! That cover art for the mini book is spectacular!!! Great job to those who conceived that!

Just checked my order off PeterK and it tells me this:"Order Status: Order received, authorization complete, packaging for shipment"
So Peter, how soon are you allowed to ship?

Another week of waiting, another week of agony
The reason for the delay is understandable but it certainly does not make the wait any easier. Although we should be more concerned about all the people who had to evacuate and lost their homes to the flames. The CRs have a funny(well funny is perhaps not the right word) way of having these delays for all kind of reasons haven't they. None have been released on the first announced release date. I wonder if the nature itself is now against the Rotk CR.

Incase this was missed..this was posted on Howard Shore's sitequote:
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King – The Complete Recordings will now be available beginning Tuesday, November 20th due to the San Diego wildfires that forced the temporary closing of the assembly plant. Sorry for any inconvenience and thanks for understanding.

The cover art is gorgeous. Any guesses what will be on the CD case? I'm thinking Aragorn. Or maybe the Grey Havens. Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be great. And about the release date, don't fret guys. Just think of some of us who will be getting this around December. Maybe that should make your one-week delay bearable

woohoo... me too. It would be a bummer if Peter has to hold onto them until the 20th just because the label can't fill other orders.

If my set is gonna smell of Calfornian wild fire smoke, then there's trouble ahead, lemmetellya!Sulfur from Mt Doom or Elvish sweat (I know...Elves don't sweat!), all fine...but NO Californian wild fire smoke!
I find it hilarious how so many of you react to this news. FotR:CR was postponed as well, and the world didn't end. I find some small bit of justice in this situation, as it will shorten the head-start all of you have over me, since I'll be in for this only on Christmas.
Neener-neener-neener.

That's a shame about the release date, but if it couldn't be helped...Perhaps Doug will keep us satisfied with his podcast - and maybe the Annotated Score. Assuming that it was being prepared in time for one of the original release dates, it would be another nice way to soften the wait.

Hi everyone,The ROTK Podcast is in production now… It’ll be posted as soon as it’s finalized, so the wait should not be too much longer.
As for the Annotated Score, I’m happy to announce that we signed off on the final version this week. It’s now in WB’s hands, so it’ll be up to them to post it on the site. I would *guess* they’ll get it out there right along with the (newly, newly) updated release date, but they could really do anything they want. Posting it early seems slightly unlikely to me, but I guess it’s possible. Like any release date, it’s a studio decision.
It's a fairly sizable document! I hope everyone enjoys it.
I’m glad everyone is taking the wildfire-spawned delay in stride… and I feel your frustration—remember, I don’t get the final product until you do either! But after all, compared to the real suffering these fires have caused people, we’re doing pretty well.
Back soon!
-Doug

oh... I know what it means. It's a schoolyard taunt, along the lines of 'ha ha ha... you can't catch me'. It helps to imagine a young boy bobbing around, sticking his thumbs in his ears (waving the fingers around) and sticking out his tongue.(Yes, imagine Christian doing that if you like. :P)
I just thought it was an American (English language) colloquialism and wondered if German's actually used that taunt.
(private wave to Earl re: the Hobbit competition at TORn: Congratulations! I'm quite pleased with myself as well. Now lets see if we actually get our prizes!)

From Filmtracks:"My advance copy of the complete Return of the King set arrived shattered (with a cracked CD1), so that's on hold until I can order it as well."
Seeing as box-sets seem prone to be more easily damaged than CD in normal jewel cases, this has me a bit worried. I've asked Christian whether the damage was due to bad packaging or a manufacturing error. The clamps holding the CDs both in FotR:CR and T2T:CR are very weak...the CDs can rotate freely and thus could get easily scratched.
Not good.

AMAZON.COM has added this on the web-sit:
Note on Boxed Sets: During shipping, discs in boxed sets occasionally become dislodged without damage. Please examine and play these discs. If you are not completely satisfied, we'll refund or replace your purchase
I think, the customers who will buy the ROtK-CR ! must to buy it in a serious seller-Market who will does a good packaging for the purchace, where the box-set won't be shaked a lot while the travel.Maybe I will pay the 190% of the price of the CR ! it will arrives 2/4 days after it will be send, brought by DHL (or other)....

question for anybody who's seen the packaging:i know there is an extra disc within the box, but is the "spine" of the boxe approximately the same width as the previous releases? i'm kind of curious. if so, it'll fit on my cd shelf just fine, but if not i'll probably have to find a new place for my collection.

The ROTK box set looks like it's exactly the same as the others. I don't think adding one more disc will change the size of the spine if it's designed and packaged efficiently.

I wonder when one of the soundtrack internet sites will post interior photos like soundtrack.net did with TTT just before the release last year. I did like the booklet artwork on HS.com, now Im wondering what the CD holding case will be like and the CD themselves. I guess all in due time.

I certainly understand the reasoning behind the latest delay, but I have to admit that I am disappointed. I will be going out of town to visit family for the Thanksgiving holiday, and I won't be getting home to open my copy until the 27th. Bummer!

By far, the exclusion of ["For Frodo"] was my greatest disappointment with the original soundtrack, but now we have that blessed, choral statement of the Fellowship theme! I could die a happy man with that brief moment reverberating in my ears and soul...OK, I've gotta "let 'er rip."
Why does everyone adore this moment so much?!? No offense, but I thought it was simply cheesy in the film, and it does nothing for me as a standalone listen either. Odd, isn't it?

Re: For Frodoas far as the scene, I think it's for very personal reasons but that made me choke up trying to talk about it after my first viewing. I've had similar responses over similar sorts of scenes but in ways that perhaps are individual to me.
as far as the music, it's the singing of the Fellowship Theme that I think is grand.

On "For Frodo":I think it all goes back to Shore's concept of musical storytelling. The culmination of the story (or the climax)and its major themes was largely represented with choral pieces, and thus one of the culminating moments of the Fellowship's heroism is told with the choir.
Like Magpie said, it's the singing of the theme that is effective. I don't think it's cheesy at all.
