Noobish question: we have seen "Motion Picture Trilogy" releases of all three versions of the LOTR DVDs. Is it too much to expect for a LOTR:MPT-CR set?Now we just wait for Doug to christen this thread with his presence.

Now if I recall correctly there are two different sets of the extended edition LOTR trilogy on DVD: the regular extended editions and the limited edition DVDs with all new documentary footage. So Kungfuyu,
are you suggesting that after we get this first set of the LOTR:CRs that there should be another set of CRs with all new alternate takes and different versions of the themes therein and all new documantary footage of Howard Shore writing, collaborating and conducting -(not including the rarities discs)?

DOH! I had completely forgotten that. Sorry, Sabsi. I figured it must have come up in casual conversation but I marveled that you would remember a date from a casual conversation. I will blame advancing age for my forgetting we shared a birthday. Interestingly, we also share our birthday with a member of the TORn forums and I vaguely remembered a third member of TORn with this bday. Perhaps it was you I was thinking of.

Let me be the presumably last one to wish you a happy birthday, which I'm sure you had. In case it wasn't, there's always another oneI've just chekced amazon.de, and it lists ROTK as scheduled for November 2nd:
quote:
Verfügbarkeit: Dieser Artikel wird am 2. November 2007 erscheinen. We've had this already for FOTR, where amazon UK and DE had a much earlier release date, but it still sounds ... good.
Especially since I'm moving to a new city 600 kilometres away on November 5th, and it would be nice to have ROTK before that.
Oh well, you can't have it all ... Cologne is calling.Yes, Christian, I'm passing the enemy's borders

Just to reiterate my question for Doug on the last incarnation of the thread...One question for Doug (when you have the time). I've asked it before, but the issue hadn't been settled at the time.
Will the Return of the King CR follow the original chronology of the film with Gandalf and Pippin arriving at Minas Tirith as Faramir and his men are retreating from Osgiliath, or will it follow the EE edit of the film, with the theatrical chronology?

Both. If you want more info than that, call in to the Podcast.
Speaking of which…
Looks like the test has worked. I got messages from Earl, Christian and Timdalf… oh, and someone from Modesto, California who calmly said, and I quote, “Lala.”
Thanks to everyone who called in! ...Yes, even Lala in Modesto.
I’ll probably get the official message up and running late this week/early next, but if anyone else feels like testing it in the meantime:

Nah, I'm just asking if they're gonna offer a three-box set. Isn't that gonna retail around $160? A trilogy box would be nice...>_<

I've been considering buying the CR-ROTK for moviemusic just in thanks for all the support Peter has given this community by his patient hosting of this thread. I am, however, budget conscious, and before I decided, I wanted to check out prices.B&N has just redone their search engine. I know this because I've been referencing them and Amazon extensively the last few days in some soundtrack work I've been doing. A search for
>Complete Recordings Return of the King <
>Return of the King<
>Lord of the Rings<
all yield no results. Now, that's just ridiculous. So I tried Howard Shore and finally got up the recordings they offer. But if they're offering the CR-ROTK, it's not showing up.I *was* surprised to see they were offering the TTT-Limited Edition. I thought it was sold out. So I looked more closely and see the price is around $16 and there are 19 tracks. I'm sure this is the standard jewel case edition with the wrong photo. I then spent 15 minutes searching for a way to tell them they have the wrong cover photo and they apparently don't want to hear about it. There is no contact info to be found.
They just lost my business.
Although the prices for Amazon and moviemusic were given in this thread, I checked them out on my own. I don't even have to worry about price. I would get triple point with my Amazon credit card... but Peter, you still get my business. Thanks for all you contribute to the soundtrack community.

Thanks, mags! That's a very nice post. Yes, I love selling soundtracks and want to make it a good experience for others who love soundtracks like me. But sure, everyone is entitled to save money if they want and shop from a monster who may not even be aware that they sell soundtracks (think of Amazon.com as the cool dude in the music shop that makes funny faces at you for wanting weird music). After all, the product is the same. But sooner or later, I am convinced that if the product is the same, the only thing that's different is the service behind the sale. God forbid you run into a problem with one of the big stores. There are sometimes problems with the little stores, but with customer service in mind, it's resolved in a humanitarian way.Anyway, thanks for the words Magpie. Your support is very much appreciated and does make a difference here. Buying this stuff from Amazon.com and other large stores makes no difference at all to them.

The reservation for the concert has disappaer from the website. I had a hope because I see it have been updated and maybe they had forgotten to write about the concert of the "Maestro". So I have called the theatre to be sure of what happen, and they have told to me that the LOTR'S SYMPHONY has been canceled for the 3 and 4 November. With my greater sadness I have to tell you there is no hope of LOTR SYMPHONY in Paris.

Why? Are we that bored and/or out of good topics to discuss that we have to start tallying up how well this set will sell?!
And before I'm off for another month or so, I'll just say that I like Shore's divided writing for woodwinds. There. Good topic. Discuss.
And Georg, take care up in Köln. The people are quite OK, actually, but the city's ugly (due to some Brits and idiot post-WW2 designers).

Hello ALL,Glad to be back to the forum, I don't have much time to go on the internet at home after work, but I read all the posts at work, although I don't want to abuse my internet time and usage at work!!!
Doug, I read your 'Most Impressive' comment as I was listening to John Williams - SW:TESB
I got Eastern Promises yesterday......I enjoy it very much, although, I do wonder when they release soundtracks that are just over 30 minutes as to how much music they have left out???
I don't want to say too many bad things about soundtrack releases, as we live in a day and age where complete releases are coming from left, right and center.........
Keep up the good work DOUG!!!
ALL THE BEST TO ALL THE READERS OF THIS FORUM!!!!
Happy Birthday Magpie!!!
I live in Adelaide, South Australia.....
Have you ever been swooped by a Magpie???
The last two weeks, I have been swooped 9 times on the way to and from the train station each day!!!It's great fun for stategic thinking, looking out for the whereabouts of your own safety!!!!
After the first five or so swoops, you can hear them coming in your direction from behind!!!!
The young Maggies make the loudest noise as they swoop your heads, and the adults come straight past your head from behind like arrows being shot at you from a far away distance!!!
When I see them flying directly in front of me, I hold my Bible case in front of me in their direction and yell 'BACK OFF'.
Although, there aren't that many witnesses, although drivers have strange looks on their faces as they see me walking on road with my head looking up at the Gum Trees, looking out for Magpies, fearing for my life!!!
