AH? I've not seen this thread in a while, and I miss it. Come on, there's lots of stuff available... let's see what's floating to the top!

    Somebody else go first:

Frankenstein by Patrick Doyle. I can't believe I've waited this long to purchase this score! Truly outstanding work by Doyle. Bold, thematic, and tender when needs be. I can't fathom why some reviews of this CD were fairly harsh.

If I recall, most criticism of the score was that it was over the top in the movie. Fine and all... I still haven't seen the movie, and the only reason I like the CD is because it is over the top. Favorite track, the wedding one. Won't ever forget it. Probably last listened to this OST 6 years ago, but still can pop that theme right into consciousness in one second! Argh, but excuse me. I am already off topic.

I tracked down two Poledouris scores I had never heard before--The Blue Lagoon and Love and Treason...the two couldn't be more different. L and T is alright for a synth score (I like it more than No Man's Land!)--Blue Lagoon is quite a score. it's kind of short and i don't really remember a stand out theme per se, but most of the tracks were rather enjoyable nonetheless.

January has been a good month for me so far, though I think I have to cool down on the cd-purchasing for now.

Goldsmith: The Omen Trilogy, Alien complete edition

    Williams: Empire of the Sun

    Amenabar: The Others

Herrmann: North by Northwest (cond. McNeely), Fahrenheit 451, Mysterious Island (cond. Stromberg.)

    Brilliance in abundance!

You really don't hear a stand out theme in Blue Lagoon, TJ? It's got two of my absolute favorite Poledouris themes. That main title is just gorgeous.

Not much has shown up for me yet this month, but I'm expecting some very interesting things in the near future.

3:10 To Yuma... good stuff. Before that was Transformers which was pretty good. Better than what was in the film. Before that was Harry Potter 5, which was also good stuff. I especially like the scenes that seemed to be modeled after scenes in Cinderella Man...

Well, I mean't I didn't notice any RECURRING themes a la FAREWELL TO THE KING or CONAN. Although I'm sure they might be there, I didn't catch on first listen.

Sadly not as much as I'd like. I only got Enchanted, Pirates 2 and Harry Potter/Order of the Phoenix. I would like to get Blood Diamond and King Kong (2005) in terms of past releases. As for new releases, I really don't know what I want... I would love to have Beowulf because I adore Silvestri.

    So jealous, Craig.

Speaking of sweet deals, I was a benefactor of an amazingly good deal on a lot of 14 williams soundtracks.

The grand total was $42 including shipping and it included the likes of such OOP goodies as RAIDERS, Superman rhino, Close Encounters Collectors Edition and more.

The opening bid was $30 and not a single person outbid me. I was shocked. So was the seller. Raiders alone usually goes for that price. Thanks to another member here, I already have the DCC RAIDERS, so this will either fetch me a rare title, or bring in some much-needed $ so I can finally buy some titles I keep putting off....or it might just go rock bottom in value if we get those much wanted reissues...Either way I feel like I hit the Williams jackpot and it is pretty sweet.

Of course, I am driving back to college tomorrow , so that stuff will have to wait...and if it plunges, it plunges.

Haha... yes I feel like a thief. It's the same place I found Lethal Weapon for $3. A grimy, old, smelly used book and music store... the name and location of which I will not reveal
