I've seen roughly four 2-3 minute clips from this film w/ Newman's score and from what I saw it's looks and sounds brilliant. I can't wait!

With a movie like this, being mostly dialogue-free, the music will need to be pretty spectacular. Here's hoping Newman delivers another winner.

Really looking forward to this score. Was joking about the short tracks, though like Nemo I'm sure there will be some.

I think there's a lot of dialogue free parts, but once Wall-E begins his adventure of trying to find Eve, then he'll encounter more and more speaking. Personally, I think this film would've been find with just random Wall-E robot sounds.

As for the score, Thomas Newman pretty much always impresses me, so I'll be picking this up right away.

Thomas Newman did Horse Whisperer right? If so, I might just save up for this one. I am really looking forward to the movie. Looks cute!

I really like the artwork for this CD for some reason... it's super simple, but I like the way the credits are layed out on the front and how they didn't just use a poster for it. Though the posters are nice too...

So the Wall E site has some music on it that sounds Thomas Newman-ish to me in case anyone is interested... If it's not the score, I'd be amazed...

But is the music they've been using in the trailers going to be on it? I've been trying to find that sweet little ditty, and can't find it anywhere.

Nutso, I've been sleeping with ma mate Rip Van W... sorry about that. Here's your pre-order link:
http://www.moviemusic.com/soundtrack/walleListening to this now...
Actually, listened to two scores today: Elfman's Wanted and now Wall-E.
After the Elfman spin, I was seriously saying to myself, "Why am I even in this business anymore... this score sounds so uninspired, and Elfman's rock song is super flat... ugh!"
But then I played Wall-E: totally fun, totally inspiring.... a theme appears! Too many short tracks break it up a little more than my liking, but leave it to a Newman to keep the fire going....

Thanks Peter! Good comments too, I had made the assessment about the Elfman score earlier, when I listened to the clips that were posted on the FSM boards; I didn't really like it, either. But SOP is all I want in an Elfman score, so I'm satisfied with that (unless Hellboy II is really something special). When I have some money to spare, I'll most definitely be ordering Newman's Wall-E from you.

So I completely forgot about this one being released today and was surprised to find it waiting for me as I purchased a book at Barnes & Noble (sorry Peter, but you'll have an order for something else soon). And I must say, and you should expect this from me: I've only gotten to track 13, and this is the best score of the year. Even Sean will like this one (this is EPIC Newman!). I frakkin' love this one. It was love at first listen (well, not the Hello Dolly! number, but "2815 A.D."). Oh, those crazy Bill Bernstein contributions are great fun ("First Date" and "BNL", the latter of which is verrrry Brazil-inspired). Who doesn't plan on getting this one? They can go to Hell!

I listened to a few clips on iTunes and was not enjoying it. Sorry, Andrew, I watch Battlestar Galactica and that will easily beat anything I hear this year. The short cues annoy me. Nothing against Newman, but most of what I like from him has to do with longer, protracted pieces, not the short ones.

You can actually put them on a shelf beside everything else and it look nice.

But I still need to order some Blu-Ray cases and print out some artwork so I can put them with the rest of movies as I do like my movies matching. Unless it's something like Blade Runner which came with a breifcase, and I also like those WB coffee table book things even though most people hate them.

Plus, the artwork is pristine and not homemade. I've collected long enough to know that the Harry Potter suitcase and the Blade Runner briefcase are just gimmicks that, at the end of the day, take up too much space and really serve no practical purpose.

Well technically, the only thing homemade about my Harry Potter artwork is that I printed it from home. A buddy of mine actually made high quality scans of the artwork. As for Blade Runner, maybe it'll be worth something someday. They're individually numbered so perhaps...
