I saw the THE INCREDIBLE HULK last night. Wow! What a surprisingly great film with a truly awesome score. I had no idea what to expect from Armstrong but a minute into the opening titles I was thinking "This is going to be good."Armstrong composed a great score with little nods towards Harnell's music from the TV show. I'm anxious to buy the upcoming 2-CD soundtrack and dive into it more. Great stuff!

Awesome. Good to hear! I'm sure it's like night and day to Elfman's score, for certain. Elfman's work was solid, though -- I enjoyed it. Looking forward to hearing Armstrong's efforts, and excited that it's coming in a 2-CD presentation.

The titles seems to suggest every last one of the 45 tracks is score.

I guess this answers the question of who is carrying the CD:From the amazon site:
Now Playing: "The Incredible Hulk"
Composer Craig Armstrong brings his Grammy®- and Golden Globe®-winning talents to the film score for the new blockbuster, "The Incredible Hulk" (in theaters June 13). This gripping soundtrack is an Amazon.com Exclusive.posted 06-05-2008 09:57 PM PT (US) rkeaveney

Wait, so who is scoring this? And how many CDs is the soundtrack? And where can I get it?

I think those questions each deserve their own thread.

Peter, will you be stocking this in your store? Are you stocking the 2-disc? Or the 1-disc? I tried searching for it but I still don't know who wrote the score.

I would like to announce that my copy just arrived. The packaging is really nice, the discs have an outstanding screen-printing job done on them.HOWEVER,
They are burned CD-Rs. Crazy, I know. But I turn them over and I can see the actual burn on them, not to mention the light-green tint to the backside.
What the?

That said, we're looking at an 91 minutes of score across two discs, 45 tracks. So far I'm enjoying it.I'm still puzzled about the CD-R business, as this came directly from Amazon. Peter, you're going to stock these right? Anyway to inquire as a retailer about the reasoning behind this?

As for the odd CD-R nature of it, I'm not too surprised, as this seems to be an odd release anyway. Would also like to hear more about that when someone gets the info.

And Andrew, yeah -- there are some nice cues here and there, but so far, it's a lot of droning. Haven't progressed to disc 2 yet.

I'm getting the distinct feeling the physical release was built to be inexpensive on the CD side as an experiment while the mp3 release is the more commonly executed of the two.Pretty understandable; Marvel Music's only other releases are the Guy Michelmore scores for the Lionsgate/Marvel DTV films (Ultimate Avengers 1 & 2). Those are actually good, but when released, they were digital only releases. Something tells me the saem was almost true here...

Just finished Disc 1. So far, Danny Elfman's score reigns supreme!Armstrong's score (so far) isn't bad by any stretch, it's just not very interesting. The "Hulk Theme" is an odd piece of music. Very... moody. Which I think fits the subject matter, but, you won't catch me walking around humming it, well... you might hear me whistling the catchy riff / hook he's built into it w/ the low brass. But, that's about it.
I gotta see this with the film, that's for sure.

Jeron, to answer your question, I don't know. Those Lionsgate/Marvel Animated film scores were iTunes exclusives. I discovered them by complete accident until an annoucnment in one of Marvel "Pulse" e-mails came to me talking about it. I think it's interesting, I got my copy yesterday, too, and had to open it up to see what you were talking about. I haven't had problems with CD-Rs, but I've heard the kind with this tint have shorter lifespans. I plan on backing mine up to mp3 anyway so that I don't abuse the discs.I have to say, I do like that the DC Universe animated films are getting released through La La Land. They're releases are pretty good on artwork and the scores themselves are pretty solid. Looking forward to the Batman: Gotham Knight flick and CD. Apparently, it's combination of Kevin Manthei (whose Justice League: New Frontier score was pretty good), Robert Thal (whose Superman: Doomsday was equally a pretty decent listen), and Christopher Drake, most known for this scores for the Hellboy DTV animated features, adapting Marco Beltrami's theme (the scores for those features are unreleased, so far as I know).

Sadly.
Kevin Manthei's score for New Frontier was decent at best. No memorable themes at all. Superman: Doomsday was utterly abysmal... and yes, I bought both albums and films. I enjoyed both features, though. Doomsday was a better flick than New Frontier, however. Still bummed they haven't released it on Blu-ray. So, not really sure what to expect w/ Gotham Knight. Definitely looking forward to the blu-ray release of that... but, I don't have my hopes up high for the music. On another note, however... I did enjoy the score for Dr. Strange. That's probably my favorite of them all... both music and feature.

Just an F.Y.I. on those Guy Michaelmore AVENGERS scores. I have them on CD. They were only available in a special box set with the 2 films on DVD. It was 3 DVD cases with the 3rd case housing both scores. I found it new at a Second Spin store in Santa Monica.James

Something always gets me about CD-R's. People say "it's a cd-r cause I can see the burn". When I first heard this years ago, I started looking at my cd's purchased from stores. MOST all of them, which are totally legitimate I can see a ring where the burn is. Not only that, many of them, if I hold up to the light, I can see through them. Another sign that people say is a cd-r. So I'm not really sure I buy those assessments as being a giveaway that it's CD-R. And this is after looking at all types of my purchased cd's, from rock, jazz, soundtracks, etc.

Yes, you can see a ring on both, signifying where data was burned versus the remaining unused portion, but there is a clear difference. The Incredible Hulk disc is without a doubt a burned disc. I've actually never seen anything like this, which is why I'm even saying anything about it. It was kinda shocking... didn't ruin my day, but nevertheless.
