Tune in to a new edition of On the Score at www.filmmusicmag.com, as composer DANNY ELFMAN gives a rare audio interview on his work for the Summer's two most blazingingly inventive soundtracks, HELLBOY II and WANTED, as well as discussing his unexpected, balletic adventure for RABBIT AND ROGUE.It's an exclusive talk with one of Hollywood's top composers that soundtrack fans won't want to miss, as Elfman gives insight into his eccentric, darkly romantic and exciting approach to composition, especially when it comes to the genre action of a heroic demon and a super-assasin.
Then be sure to stay on our internet channel for our archived shows with Trevor Rabin (GET SMART), Ramin Djawadi (IRON MAN) Varese and Film Score Monthly label chiefs Robert Townson and Lukas Kendall, and composer Maurice Jarre (LAWRENCE OF ARABIA).
Thanks for tuning in!

His score for HBII is, as stated above, a little disappointing; but maybe after a few more listens it will set in. That said, the Kaplans (at FSM) have hit it on the nose by saying that Wanted is the very best score of the summer (and considering how much I love Thomas Newman's Wall-E score, that's a fine compliment); it's kept me thoroughly entertained with some great use of orchestra and electronics as well as some solid main themes. Being on hospital bed rest for the past two days, I'm embarrassed to admit how many times I've listened to it.

For reasons that I am not 100% sure of, I cannot quit listening to Wall E. I've seriously lost count at how many times I've listened to the album the whole way through. So maybe I should check out Wanted, although the movie didn't really apeal to me much. But why are you on bed rest?

Thanks for your sentiment, guys (except you Jeron, you know I have a weight problem
). Actually, I pulled a "groin" muscle while working on Monday. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as was initially thought in the ER on Monday afternoon (the doctors and my family were convinced I'd either had a hernia or my testicles had twisted, ouch!) I've still been in some pain, though it's subsided over the past few days. And, hey, workman's comp! Can't beat that. Except for the extreme difficulty I've had locating a urologist in the Atlanta-area that accepts workman's comp.

They thought that happened to me once... Let me tell you, though you probably already know, it's not much fun when they check for that stuff.
Anywho, hope you're back on your feet in no time![Message edited by scoreguy16 on 07-09-2008]

I never thought I'd see the day where a guy with "nuts" in his handle mentions he may have twisted his testicles!

You're right about that Clayton; what's even more embarrassing was that this is the second time I've been to the hospital for the same pains in the past five years. The first time I had to have my appendix removed (which is still a better option than having twisted testicles), and they checked to see if they had twisted; and now, obviously, this second time. I refused to even go to the hospital, on account that I was convinced that the actual "bad thing" had finally happened. I just can't imagine having a surgical procedure on that area, let alone the recovery. Yikes! And Ryan, you better believe that that day has come! Did you read my review of Wanted on FSM?

The recovery is what freaks me out. It even hurts me to even think about it just a little. The surgery part isn't what gets me, it's what happens after. There's one word that just freaks me out every time I think of it... Catheter... Just the idea of it makes me cringe...
And Ryan, I didn't even think about the fact that Nuts was in his name! lol oh that made my day... that and I get to see Wall E again tonight on a better DLP screen.

You know, I've had a catheter before, for my appendix surgery. The pee afterwards, YOWZA! Probably the most difficult thing I've had to endure in my life.

And now you've added to my fear of catheters... and my appendix bursting! As for Wall E, I saw it on a DLP screen already. But our local theater has problems with upkeep, so the biggest (and once THX Certified) screen now has the worst picture and sound. But now that Wall E has been out for a couple of weeks, it should be on a much better screen. I am still looking forward to the Blu-Ray though, as Ilike my "theater" the best.
