Anybody see this last episode of Battlestar? When Starbuck is at the piano with the piano player, and he begins talking about writing the 2nd piece, he's just kind of playing around on the piano, and he's playing music from the original Battlestar. He's playing "Exploration" from the original series. The beginning of Track 2 of the ost for those who have it. It was also used constantly throughout the series. Kind of a transition piece to the Cylons. But I thought it was a neat homage to the original once again.

Best Show On TV.And it was a great episode!
Bear's music is awesome this season. I hope they do a 2 disc season 4 set...not sure if you could fit all the awesomeness on 1 CD.
Read more about this episode on Bear's blog! (beware, major spoilers!)

Excellent episode! The last two before it, while well done, were too talkative and lacked momentum... Friday's, on the other hand, set up some brilliant plot outlines for the three-part finale! Starbuck's piano playing was a great driving force there, both with "Exploration" and the Final Five theme--Bear did a tremendous job; I still have to go read his blog about that episode, I bet it's insightful (I understand he was on set for most of that episode, for obvious reasons). Best show on television and best score on television--nothing comes close.

Also, Bear's mentioned that there will be future Battlestar Galactica score releases to come out after the show finishes off; so, I think, in the end we'll get what we want.

This may sound weird, but I actually think it would be nice if we could have a Season 4 disc that matches the other ones. Bear's Season 2 and 3 albums are brilliantly edited and sequenced, and I feel that the limitations of a single disc release actually aided those records by forcing him to make hard choices, the result being a work that flows from beginning to end.He has already said that he's interested in further releases afterward, which would be nice as he has often mentioned that there is plenty of music from the previous three seasons that he would have liked to include but didn't have space for on these. And there certainly will be an audience for them!
Don't get me wrong, I'm chomping at the bit to get a lot more Battlestar Galactica music myself. I would just rather wait and have a better set of albums than have a lot at once that doesn't come together as well.
