This is either going to be really, really difficult, OR someone will post the correct answer instantly, and then this "thread" will sink faster than that big boat we all watched awhile back.

    NAME THE ACTRESS:

    She has appeared in:

    One Ray Harryhausen movie.
    One Elvis Presley movie.
    TWO James Bond movies!
An episode of Boris Karloff's "Thriller"

Here is a list of the men she has appeared in movies with:

    Woody Allen
    Charles Bronson
    Victor Buono
    Peter Cushing
    Sammy Davis, Jr.
    John Derek
    Robert Duvall
    Christopher Lee
    Jack Lord
    Dean Martin
    Laurence Olivier (TWICE!)
    Peter O'Toole
    Jack Palance
    George Peppard
    Maximilian Schell
    George Segal
    Peter Sellers
    Omar Sharif
    Frank Sinatra
    and
    Orson Welles.

    WHO IS SHE?

Well, let me see. Ursula Andress was in Once Before I Die with John Derek. A real classic. She was in Dr. No. She played with a lot of those guys in various films. Blue Max and so on. I don't know. John.

Your last sentence gave it away. She was Ursula in the film with Cushing. JW.

Oh, John..I haven't laughed this hard for a very long time...

"Your last sentence gave it away. She was Ursula in the film with Cushing."

I didn't even think about She when I wrote that. Oh, well. That was too easy.
My guess on your questions is Sam Neill.

I suppose it's my turn to ask another trivia question...here's a pretty TRIVIAL one:

As the resident Ray Harryhausen fan (along with Timmer, of course) I'd like to put this one to you trivia buffs...

Oscar-winner Peter Finch (Network) and Oscar-nominated Robert Shaw (The Sting, Jaws) each appeared in cameo roles in different Ray Harryhausen films! Name the films that they appeared in, and who they portrayed.

Peter Finch was a...postman?...in First Men In The Moon. He just happened to be on the set at the time. And Robert Shaw was in...nope, can't think.

Sam Neill is correct. Yes, the last sentence was a clue. Go get 'em, Chris.

Next question: The original version of Ghost and the Darkness was called what? It was really bad. Bad acting and stuffed lions getting thrown around. Who starred in it? Clue: he is on TV all the time now.

    John.

God, this is bizarre ... I'd only read about the "original" version two days ago! How fortunate that I did ...

The movie is BWANA DEVIL (1952), written, produced and directed by Arch Oboler, better known for various lunatic radio shows including "The Chicken Heart That Ate The World" (I know that sounds weird, but I'm going by Stephen King's immortalization of Oboler in his book "Danse Macabre.")

    The star was Robert Stack.

NP: ONE LITTLE INDIAN (short suite, downloaded from DECONSTRUCTING GOLDSMITH -- wouldn't it be cool if FSM put this out on a double bill with, say, RIO LOBO? Or a shorter score from the same period, like Frank DeVol's EMPEROR OF THE NORTH? I can dream, can't I?)

    H. Rocco is correct. The worst scene in the movie is when a bunch of natives are standing in a group screaming when they start throwing stuffed lions at them. Best, John.

Chris, the best I can come up with at the moment is this (and I'm not even sure if my facts are correct, so it's a bummer of a question):

What's the ironic connection between Jack Hawkins and Charles Gray?

    She
    - Sailed to "Hawaii"

    - Wasn't anywhere near as good as Rosiland Russell

    - Looked like the cleaning lady had arrived to perform "We Are The World"

    Who is she?

Chris, does "Casino Royale" count as a "proper" James Bond movie? Just a thought!
John, are you talking about Julie Andrews?
    Here's my teaser
"another woman who appeared in 2 Bond movies (no not Miss Moneypenny!!) and she also appeared in one, even two Hammer films (although I cant remember the title of one of the movies!!) Who is she?

The connection between Charles Gray and Jack Hawkins? hmmmm (apart from the uncanny resemblance to each other...were they related?)or is it to do with their voices? Jack Hawkins had throat cancer and lost his voice didn't he?...did the same happen to Charles Gray?

It's a little known fact that not only is The Divine Miss M FROM Hawaii, but she also had a bit part in the 1966 film of the same name, but those last two parts were mean.

About that last question: when did Sam Neill play a British officer?

    My own query coming soon.

OK, Gae nearly got it, but the irony was that...

Jack Hawkins lost his voice in 1966.
His subsequent film appearances were all dubbed by Charles Gray.
Jack Hawkins then died of throat cancer.
Charles Gray then died of throat cancer.

I THINK I'm right about their fatal illnesses...

If not, here's something I DO know (or THINK I know):

Who have all the following scores got in common? In alphabetical order:

    Airport 1975 (John Cacavas)
    Chinatown (Jerry Goldsmith)
    Earthquake (John Williams)
    Farewell, My Lovely (David Shire)
    The Gauntlet (Jerry Fielding)
    Hawaii (Elmer Bernstein)
    The Hellstrom Chronicle (Lalo Schifrin)
    In Cold Blood (Quincy Jones)
    The Omega Man (Ron Grainer)
Planet Of The Apes (Jerry Goldsmith)
The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three (David Shire)
    10 (Henry Mancini)

    Gae, you asked me:

    quote:
Chris, does "Casino Royale" count as a "proper" James Bond movie?

Well, it IS about James Bond...
It IS based upon an Ian Fleming novel about James Bond...
Ian Fleming himself declared that he envisioned Bond being portrayed in films by David Niven, so in a manner of speaking, this is really the ONLY James Bond picture!

So what if Albert Broccoli didn't produce it?

Chris, just testing you!! The only reason I really said what I said was because "Casino Royale" is a bit of a spoof of Bond isn't it? Surely we cant say that it has the same graphic realism of the other bond movies does it? I mean, all the bond movies are totally believable and mirror the real world of course as we all know whereas Casino Royale is really far fetched and comic-strip like (I'm kidding of course!!) Gae

I'm afraid that I don't know the answer to that one, but here's my query:

    This actor's played:

    a. the President
    b. a corrupt sheriff
    c. an Amish man
    d. a mad circus owner

    Who is he?

Hint: The President he played actually existed. Also, one of these characters wasn't necessarily in a film.

    Re: Bette Midler

First, she WAS Mama Rose. Rosalind Russell did NOT sing her songs. A fantastic comedienne though she was, her songs were dubbed.

Second, how would you have dressed for WATW if you knew you had to stand in a back row beside LaToya Jackson? I'd sure as hell slouch in, too.

Pres. Lyndon Johnson: LBJ THE EARLY YEARS

What British actor has portrayed two Caesars? One from history; one is fictional.

    Ron -

To me, Midler was completely mediocre in that role - even if she did do her own singing (which I found mediocre, as well). Many people were dubbed in Hollywood. It didn't necessarily have any bearing on their acting performance. Of course, I find the orginal theatrical version of that film, to be the TV versions superior in every way. Just a matter of opinion. I saw it on stage with Angela Lansbury, and she put both of them to shame. Also, whether she was standing next to one of the Jackson's or not, she looked like the cleaning lady. I never said it was inappropriate, or that she should have dressed differently; I just said that she looked like the cleaning lady. I don't think that Midler needs defending, or my support of her, in any way.

Looks like nobody's going to get the connection between all those scores I mentioned a while back. Who do they have in common?

And the answer is...EMIL RICHARDS! Who's he? one of THE great jazz/experimental percussionists! He played on all these soundtracks I listed. Come to think of it, he might not actually have played on The Omega Man, but the waterchime heard throughout was his invention.
